Is anyone taking the trip leaving Oct 22nd?

I am currently signed up to take this trip for the November departure date, but have been told that it currently does not have enough participants. I was told a couple of weeks ago that I could transfer to the Oct 22nd departure and have been trying to call today to do that - but lines have been busy all morning and I have not yet gotten through. I live in Denver metro area. Where do you live?

I also live in the Denver area. Let me know if you get your trip rescheduled.

I was able to reschedule my trip for the October 22nd departure. Will be away for a couple of weeks, but perhaps we can connect mid-June. Ruth

Anyone else from the west coast of Florida? Trying to find a way to Miami airport other than driving. Any suggestions? We're on the 10/24/14 trip.

How many people are on this trip -- what is the max?

Greetings Tricia and Leonard,

We live in Albuquerque, NM, have lived here since 1967, so the four of us will represent the Southwest.

I have always wanted to go to South America and Bob is becoming interested in seeing it, having read the Road Scholar activities. We will have a chance to get to know each other during our days at sea.

We have taken about 8 Elderhostel trips, but our last was in 2001 to Rome. since then we've mostly traveled with Grand Circle.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Hello Judy and Bob!
Tricia Leonard Sep 30, 2013 at 05:36 PM

We look forward to meeting you on the trip. I lived in Albuquerque from 1968 through 1971. Reno is very similar in climate and altitude. I enjoyed the dry climate in Albuquerque when I lived there and was happy to find that Reno was the same. We have taken about 14 excursions with Elderhostel (now Road Scholar), mostly to Ashland, Oregon for the Shakespeare Festival. We have been to South America once before to Peru to see Machu Piccu. It was a land trip, not a cruise. I am trying to do as much of the suggested reading as possible. I've read "Darwin Slept Here" and "In Patagonia" so far. I'm looking forward to this great adventure! See you in a month, Triciad

We are Fred and Tricia Leonard and will be going in the Around the Horn trip in November. We live in Reno Nevada, but have spent most of our lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are looking forward to and interesting and exciting trip and also looking forward to making some new friends. See you in November!

Is anyone out there going on the November 2013 Around the Horn trip? We are flying into Santiago two days early.

I would love to have details of someone who has taken this trip any year. Pauline

This was a wonderful trip and the tour leader was the best I have had. She had lots of knowledge about what we were seeing. Loved the ship and all that we saw. Lots of nature and history.

Beth, we are booked for the program (around the horn cruise) beginning in late January, 2016. We enjoy martinis and wine are wondering whether drinks are included in the Road Scholar package. If not, is it better to buy by the drink/glass or to purchase the drink package (which is, I believe, about $50 per person, per day.) Also, what about bottled water. Does Road Scholar provide that? Thanks.

This was a wonderful trip. Just got back on the 4th of April. Anyone who goes will really like the adventure.
