Road Scholar
Program #2818RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I am interested in the "Signature City Chicago ..." program for Sun 18 May 2014 - Fri 23 May 2014; However, I would be traveling alone and the $425.00 single supplement is prohibitive. Will Road Scholar arrange for a female roommate for this adventure? I'll check back. Thank you!

We are thinking about doing this trip this summer, but are concerned about group size and the use of a school bus. Does anyone who has done this trip found those to be an issue?

I'm a baseball historian and I've written "Induction Day at Cooperstown A History of the Baseball Induction Ceremony (McFarland-2011.)It's the only book written about the history of this event and there are nice reviews on Amazon. As the author I'm able to sell it for $25 (retail price is $35), inscribe it and include 30 Trivia Questions taken from the book.

My husband and i will be attending the program 10/13-18. We will arrive a day early and depart at the end of the day, Saturdayn 10/19. We hope to visit with friends in Chicago, but are also interested in planning some adventures with folks in the group. Please post if you are attending on those dates and would like to make additional plans.

Any suggestions for places to eat & things to do on the free nights of Mon & Wed (9/29-10/4)?

In May we did 2nd City on Monday; took a taxi & had dinner at Bistrot Margot. As for Wednesday, we loved Andy's Jazz Club, for both dinner and the early jazz set. It's an easy walk from the Club Quarters. Early music set (5 p.m I think) was better for us than waiting for the 9 p.m. music.

I am going on the trip on Oct 13, 2013. I am looking for something to see before the program starts. We will arrive early in the day. We just have a few hours to see something. I am having trouble finding out exactly what they will do on day 2 - the bus ride day. Does anyone know if they get off the bus at Cloud Gate - also called The Bean - in Millennium Park? I think our choice for those few hours are either Cloud gate or the Chicago Cultural Center.

I just found out the Chicago Marathon is that day. We'll be at the hotel and will explore thinks within walking distance.
