BRENDA VOORHEES Aug 27, 2014 at 01:14 PM

any thoughts on hiking boots for women? I have a pair of LL Beans womens hiking that just are not comfortable enough. My feet heat up too much in them. Any ideas will be appreciated! Thanks. Looking forward to the hiking!

Hi Brenda -- I am going on the Sept 21st trip, and had been searching for comfortable hiking shoes for months so I could break them in. I am sure it depends what particular issues your feet have. Mine are wide, and I have had foot surgeries so I need to wear orthotic supports. I found Columbia Helvetia Water Proof shoes to be perfect for me. Comfortable for sure, wide enough for my toes, and the waterproofing is a big plus. Broke them in on just a few hikes out here in Colorado! The ones I bought are low, but they had an ankle style as well. Hope that helps.

Thank you! My feet are wide also with 2 healed broken toes on the right. Regular athletic shoes are no problem, however I want some treads on my tires for these hiking conditions!
Deborah Gaj Aug 27, 2014 at 04:12 PM

The tread on these is great. Completed a hike today down a steep mountainside with loose rocks and gravel. No slipping and sliding!

I am going with a friend on the Sept 21st trip. Can anyone who has already gone tell me how complicated the transportation arrangements are from Newark Airport to the actual check in location? We are flying out from Colorado Springs and should reach Newark around 2 in the afternoon. Thanks!

Has anyone gone on this trip in July? I was wondering if it's
Very hot in PA at that time. Thanks

My husband and I are enrolled for the June 8th trip. It seems this discussion board is for all sessions. We are traveling from Kansas City.

Special thanks to Cindy Miano . The perfect Go To person. I did have some concerns regarding transportation, and clothing? Cindy was more than helpful. It is so nice to have someone with knowledge and a gracious attitude. Any concerns that I may have had at the time disappeared after speaking with Cindy.
