7 Days | 6 Nights
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Hi Ruth, I'll be on the 9/7 trip. Coming to Rapid City from NY around 9 AM.If timing is OK, would love to share a shuttle to hotel. Did you make a reservation or it's not necessary? Also are you coming alone, looking for a roommate by any chance?

Ruth Geller Jun 24, 2014 at 10:32 AM

Anyone going on the Sept 7-13, 2014 South Dakota trip? I live in California and will be flying into Rapid City on Sept. 7. Perhaps we can share a shuttle to hotel.

Anyone here going on the 9/1 trip? This will be our first RS adventure. I am a semi- retired educator and my wife is a recently retired RN and we are just beginning our "traveling years".
Debbie Merrill Aug 28, 2013 at 06:08 PM

Hi, James--we will be on the 9/1 trip. We live in GA and were looking forward to cooler temps but that wont be the case! This is our first RS trip, too.
James Lessard Sep 10, 2013 at 06:50 AM

Hi Debbie... we greatly enjoyed you and Tom's company on the trip and hope you got home comfortably and are feeling better.

This will be my second and my husband's first RS trip. We're looking forward to it. We live in the Florida Panhandle and are avid sailors. We haven't been to S.D. and Wyoming since we were kids.

My wife & I are enrolled in the 7/13 trip and it's our first RS trip but have heard great things about them, especially from my folks who have traveled on several RS adventures. Anyone else out there on the 7/13-19 trip?
Robert Wray Jun 22, 2013 at 06:45 PM

My wife and I are first time RS. We are looking forward to the trip!

It's not clear to me if this discussion board is just for the June 15-21, 2013 trip or not, but that's the one I'm on! This is my first RS trip, and checks at least a couple places on my bucket list. I'm traveling solo (with an assigned roommate - could it be you?) and looking forward to meeting other people interested in western history, nature, and photography.

I'm counting the days for this trip - my first Road Scholar trip.

I was on this program in 2010 and was extremely pleased, particularly because of the program director. She ran a fine tuned program with considerable personal attention to the needs of the participants. Time at Mt Rushmore was very sufficient. Yellowstone was a great experience. There was a good balance of nature and the stories of the natives and settlers as well as the geography. You should love the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody. And if possible take a raft ride on the Snake River. If you are not a vegetarian, be sure to try the bison. We experienced a wide range of temperatures so prepare to layer.
Joyce Freeman May 30, 2013 at 04:34 PM

I am from Long Island, NY and the Yellowstone/Mt. Rushmore trip will be my 7th RS trip. In all but one, I've traveled solo. The people are usually very friendly and I've kept in touch with several.

I would like some input from someone that has been to Mount Rushmore, Black Hills and Yellowstone!!! I would also like to meet some people gpoing on this trip.
Rena Cobia May 06, 2013 at 10:31 PM

Frances, this is my first trip and I'm going with expectation of loving what is offered. I'm from Alabama and visiting Yellowstone has been a desire for a few years.
