Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I have been on four RS trips and enjoyed all but one due to the tour leader. Reply to Cathy Rankin, I have shared a room twice and both times it was a disaster. After that, I thought if I cannot pay to have my own room I would not go. I have heard that many people have good experiences. Twice on trips I shared a room and it was a nightmare. I don't understand why being a single you have to be punished with higher fees, $500 is a lot of money to have my own room. Thank you for your comment. Several years ago I took this trip and loved it other than the Las Vegas night. Zion and Bryce are gorgeous. Hoped to do it again. I went as a single but it was several years ago.

Why is the rate so high for a single room? That is what has been keeping me from taking RS trips. It's pretty steep. I am not comfortable sharing a room with someone I don't know.

i took a trip to mt rushmore a few yrs ago i told them i was traveling to start of program alone but willing to share room with assigned roommate i had no problems if you find a program u r interested in just call the 800 number and talk to a tracel advisor they will help

Actually, I think that RS single supplement is very reasonable compared to other tour groups. I, too, do not like to share a room with someone I don't know, but RS has very reasonable single supplements.
Terry Wangsness May 22, 2015 at 11:09 AM

I have been traveling with Grand Circle since there is no single supplement fee. The trip I am interested in and have done before is $500 single supplement fee. That really jacks up the price without airfare for a one week trip. Most of the trips RS has sound reasonable until you add on the single supplement fee. Thank you for your comment.

Anyone going from this trip on to St George, Utah, for Staricase to the Past?

Mary Hutcherson Mar 19, 2015 at 10:44 AM

Arriving a day early at hotel and finding it hard to find a flight out on the day we get back as flights dont leave until really late after all the 130 ones leave. Is that the same thing you are finding to the east coast? Can one easily leave bags at airport and go Into town or should I stay over another night to leave at a normal time is the question?
Kathleen Grant May 04, 2015 at 03:36 PM

I have made a reservation at the Alexis Park for 6/16 so I can get an early flight to Philadelphia the next day.
Mary Hutcherson May 19, 2015 at 10:19 AM

I wish I had done that!!
