Please overlook the numerous messages in this site that
I posted. They are a slip of the hand and I couldn't delete them.

This is today's comment on the US State Department site. I'm confident that Road Scholar can be trusted with any information that would influence travel plans.

There have been violent attacks in Turkey, and the possibility of terrorist attacks against U.S. citizens and interests, from both transnational and indigenous groups, remains high.

I think we all need to be vigilant regardless of where we travel. i live north of Boston and I was in Rwanda when the Marathon bombing occurred. i was in Uganda when the State Dept emailed a possible terrorist alert; I noticed that the both the school I was visiting and the hotel we were staying at immediately stepped up their security. All businesses dealing with tourists have their livelihood at stake and thus a good business takes care of it's clients. That being said, we are never promised absolute security anywhere. I stay out of the "hot zones", buy trip insurance, and enjoy my opportunities to see the world, other cultures, and meet people. And I always register with the State Dept. travel site.

Thank you for the good advice! The State Dept. site is very useful.

I am looking for a roommate for the Nov 5 - Nov 18 trip. Check out my Facebook page to learn a bit about me and message me if you are interested. Tamera Layton Grieshaber. I live in Maine. Retired gallery owner.

I have signed up for the trip and am getting all kinds of information online from Road Scholar, so I am beginning to pack my fantasy suitcase. I live in Seattle, so will be taking a flight to NYC to visit my daughter in CT before leaving JFK, whicb is ideal for me. I would like to do some reading about the sites we are visiting, but I find some preparation daunting. Seattle hosted an exhibit of the ruins of Pompeii, which has filled me with more wonder. I am ready to be impressed.

Hello everyone, my husband and I have signed up for this program and will be part of the October 22nd group. This is my first road scholar trip. It has been a very long time since I've been outside the US borders! Anyone else on this October trip?

Tamera Grieshaber May 29, 2015 at 11:20 AM

Is anyone considering this trip in November 2015? After reading Keith's description, it sounds perfect for me.
Joie Raymond Jun 05, 2015 at 11:07 PM

Hi Tamera, I'm going and I know someone else going.
Tamera Grieshaber Jun 06, 2015 at 08:15 AM

Where are you traveling from? Have you taken other Road Scholar trips?
Joie Raymond Jun 06, 2015 at 05:46 PM

I will be flying out of Sacramento. This will be my 16th trip.

Barbara Offner Apr 13, 2015 at 10:28 PM

Hi Keith. I failed to notice that your posting was from 2014. I'm sure I'll have questions and will use your experience to help me out. This is my first trip abroad. Bobbi
