8 Days | 7 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I am taking the Sept 27-Oct 6th trip. I am looking forward to absorbing the beauty and spirituality of the area. I hope I can find some contemplative time during the trip. Any suggestions how to plan it?

My husband, Peter, and I are attending the Oct 26 to Nov 2 program but staying one extra day at the end in Albuquerque. Any suggestions for what we should do with our extra time?

I particularly enjoyed walking the approximately 2 1/2 mile trail that goes between Old Town Abuquerque and area that can be reached in five or ten minutes by taking a local road. I walked from the trail head that went toward Old Town. There were bikes, horses, walkers, etc. and lovely views. Would recommend it. If you have not already visited the museum alongside Old Town it too is worth going to.

Hi! My name is Ken. My wife, Betsy, and myself are doing the Sept 28 - Oct. 6 session, which includes the Balloon Fiesta. Anything we should know about, good or bad, and any helpful tips? We are flying in a day early from Pennsylvania.

Hi, My husband, Rod, and I will be on the same program. We are trying to walk at the highest elevations we can find to hopefully acclimate to the NM elevation. We have a mountain nearby at almost 6,000 feet so we hiked there this weekend. Looking forward to meeting you.

Hi Doris & Rod! Good to hear from someone else on this trip! We look forward to meeting you both! We are from southeastern Pennsylvania, so no places we can walk to acclimate to the altitude. Where are you from? Have you done any other Road Scholar trips? This will be our second. We did their San Diego trip a few years ago, and loved it.!

We live in Spokane, Washington. This will be our first R.S. trip and we are really excited and curious to see how it goes. We have never explored the Southwest before.

Hi, my name is Barry. My wife Tracy and I are attending the April 25, 2014 session of this course. We are quite excited about this trip as we have always wanted to vist these three cities in New Mexico. The added benefit of being able to attend the Pow-Wow is just a plus! We live in southern California...anyone else coming along?

The 2-page list of suggested websites in the 44 page brochure for our tour has links that are not clickable and not organized by city. My husband has created a page on our family website to address that. It's at www.durhambryans.com/nm in case you might find it useful. We look forward to meeting you all and look forward to learning more about and enjoying this interesting part of our country.

Linda Brindley Sep 21, 2013 at 09:03 AM

Hi, My name is Linda Brindley from Vancouver, Canada and I will be attending the Oct. 29 to Nov. 7 trip. I will be arriving a day earlier and staying at Sheraton Albuquerque Hotel on the 28th and wonder if anyone else is arriving early as well?
