Not Sure! Being a Canadian we do have a chip on our cards.

wondering about necessity to have chip in Credit Cards as they have in Europe. Going to France Sept 5.
Linda Wright Jul 27, 2014 at 06:09 PM

Caroline, just returned from 3 week trip in Holland, France, and England. Ability to withdraw cash at ATMs was varied and unpredictable. Sometimes the ATMs in the trainstations worked sometimes they did not. Sometimes the ones in the stores worked, sometimes not. My ATM/mastercard from my credit union worked more often than my sisters ATM only card.
Linda Wright Jul 27, 2014 at 06:11 PM

Never had a credit card used to purchase goods turned down. Only trouble with ATMs. Your Road Scholar guides will probably know which machines are likely to work.

Also, on a Road Scholar trip you do not need cash for things like bus/metro tickets, museum entrance and meals. Those are all paid for you

Susan, you will not even know the boat is underway. Soooo smooth!
Enjoy the tour...you will love the guides!!

Do you know anyone at all who has gotten motion sickness on this trip? We'd love to do it, but my husband is very susceptible
Helen Albanese Jul 05, 2014 at 06:56 PM

check out this product: http://www.psibands.com/our-story.html. I am not a seller or affiliated with them; ran up on the website recently. You might want to try these out on a domestic excursion first. Good luck. I used something similar 25 yrs ago on ferry from Palermo to Naples.
Charles Routh Jul 05, 2014 at 08:09 PM

We don't know of anyone who got motion sickness on this particular trip but we have been on a number of trips in Europe on a river boat and I never heard of anyone getting motion sickness from a river boat. There is a lot of difference between the motion you get in the open ocean and the motion on a river boat which is very minimal. However it may be a good idea to check with your doctor and consider getting some medication as a prophylactic just in case. There are a lot of patches, bands and pills which do the job.
