I asked and was told the trip was full . 24 going!

Karen Morrow Nov 30, 2015 at 09:08 AM

at 8:49am on November 30th we were told by Road Scholar that they would contact the people the running the Egypt program to ascertain if the December 4th program is still going and let my spouse and I know by phone today whether we should fly out tomorrow!
Janet Arbeter Nov 30, 2015 at 11:09 AM

I was told this morning that the program was a go; that the program was monitored and if there was a problem, they skirt the disturbance. Please let me know what is happening. Thanks.
Karen Morrow Nov 30, 2015 at 12:10 PM

Well you got more of an answer than we did. What number and when did you call?
Janet Arbeter Nov 30, 2015 at 12:27 PM

I called @ 9am, 800-454-5768. I think I would also call 800-454-5768 since you are leaving within 24 hours.
Janet Arbeter Nov 30, 2015 at 12:51 PM

Looks like they are still going forward otherwise we will hear from them. You should get a call from your contact shortly. He/she is in Portland & thus the time difference.
Karen Morrow Nov 30, 2015 at 04:04 PM

told this afternoon. They are monitoring the situation. So we are packing to leave .. See you on Saturday.

Karen Morrow Nov 28, 2015 at 08:08 AM

Is the Dec.4 2015 trip still going? Reuters just reported 4 security people were killed at a tourist area near Cairo (Reuters about 6am Eastern time)
Janet Arbeter Nov 28, 2015 at 10:39 AM

Hi Karen; Good question; RS is not open today to ask. There is no further State Dept travel advisory as a result. I guess it's a wait and see.
Karen Morrow Nov 28, 2015 at 11:25 AM

we fly out from Dulles Airport on December 1st. We live in Richmond, Virginia, so I left a message on RS emergency line. Do you feel safe going in light of the Russian plane crash and now a site we were going to having shootings?
Janet Arbeter Nov 28, 2015 at 11:43 AM

The plane crash took place in the resort area, I was not happy but I adjusted. Today's shootings are too close for comfort, especially after the recent ISIS Paris area attacks and Brussels stronghold activities. It's a tough call. My target date is Monday for a decision. I planned to leave on Friday 4th.
Karen Morrow Nov 28, 2015 at 11:55 AM

My target date is Monday as I have hotels to cancel for December 1st and United Airlines plane!
Karen Morrow Nov 28, 2015 at 11:56 AM

Someone else must be calling the emergency number today to ask them to cancel. 800 454 5788
Janet Arbeter Nov 28, 2015 at 12:27 PM

If you have insurance, you can cancel anyway. They are closed today. I am going to call also.
Janet Arbeter Nov 28, 2015 at 12:34 PM

800-454-5788 was busy; I tried 800-454-5768- the message suggested that unless you are leaving within 72 hours (You) to call back during the week.
Karen Morrow Nov 28, 2015 at 05:52 PM

I am leaving Monday the 1st of December so I am at 72 hours right now. Monday morning will be 24. We arrive in Cairo Tuesday evening.

Janet Nov 23, 2015 at 02:56 PM

Hi Having second thoughts about the Egypt trip Jan 21. Would like to hear from anyone else going
Jean Yee Nov 27, 2015 at 10:08 PM

Currently, there are 6 of us signed up for the Jan 21 trip to Egypt. We are all looking forward to this trip despite current events. Figure that RS will work hard to ensure our safety. Country suffering enough already with decreased tourism.

Adele Puppo Nov 17, 2015 at 02:39 PM

Is anyone traveling to Egypt on the Dec 4th 2015 trip. Looking forward to hearing from you
Janet Arbeter Nov 23, 2015 at 04:48 PM

Hi Adele, are you still enrolled? Or are you having second thoughts? I answered your email, did you receive it? Janet Arbeter

Jim Koop Nov 13, 2015 at 11:18 PM

My husband and I are going to Egypt in early March of 2016. Is anyone else signed up to go on this trip?
Jim Koop Nov 13, 2015 at 11:21 PM

This is Nancy writing the note, my husband is Jim.

Janet Arbeter Jul 05, 2015 at 01:31 PM

I have traveled many times with Road Scholar most recently last fall to Easter Island. I've also been to Cuba with this company. I signed up to go to Egypt 12/2015 as a single. I've also noticed many tour companies but not all, have added Egypt to their catalogs. I just received my preliminary info packet. Have you signed up Lani, Jan or....?
Marcia Walker Aug 08, 2015 at 10:54 AM

I just received confirmation I am off the wait list and on the trip. I also am traveling as a single. This is my 10 domestic RS trip an my first as a single Marcia Walker.
Marcia Walker Aug 08, 2015 at 10:55 AM

oops I meant I have done only domestic trips and this is my first overseas trip with RS
Janet Arbeter Aug 09, 2015 at 07:02 AM

Great Marcia. I look forward to meeting you.

Lani McDonald Jan 11, 2015 at 12:59 PM

Hi, I know it is a long way off but I am intending to go on the Beyound the Pharoahs trip in 12/2015. Most of these posts are older and would love to hear from someone who has been in the past year. I'm assuming this is due to the political climate which I see must be improving as some of the other tour companies are adding trips to Egypt back into their catalogues. I'll be signing up around March/April 2015. Single, female open to sharing a room. Lani

I am also interested in this tour, and wonder if you have found out any more? (I may also be interested in going in December). Have you ever traveled with this company? Jan
Adele Puppo Jun 17, 2015 at 11:15 PM

I have traveled, twice before with RS, once to Cube, and the other to Morocco, I don't think I would use any other company, the guides & staff are so knowledge, & friendly
