Program #11479RJ
9 Days | 8 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Is anyone going on the Alaska Inside Passage Up Close tour June 5- June 13, 2015?
ANN R RICHARDS Nov 24, 2014 at 03:02 PM

I am not but make your plans even if you don't find a roommate. I went on it last year. Ended up rooming alone, but it was the most very awesome trip! Amazing and very well run. Have fun!

Hello - I am leaving going from San Francisco-Seattle-Sitka for the 8-15 Inside Passage trip. Anybody else leaving from SF? I'm not familiar with the airport, so if anybody has any tips, I'm all ears.
Joyce Keay Jul 15, 2014 at 05:53 PM

Hi, I went on that trip several years ago from Boston. Sorry I am not familiar with the SF airport. Have a great time. The scenery is gorgous!

We are looking forward to the Adventures Afloat: Alaska's Inside Passage Up Close on Jul 11-19, 2014! My Mom and I are going from Little Rock; my sister is coming from Kansas City; AND my sister-in-law from California!! Fun will be had by all! This is the first RS trip for all of us. See you there!!
Rachel Potter Jun 06, 2014 at 10:57 AM

Nice to hear of another multi-generation. I am coming with from Montana, joining my mother from California. She's flying from SF, I believe. Where is your mother coming from? She has done multiple RS trips. This is my first.
Maria (Molly) Schwarz Jun 09, 2014 at 07:09 PM

Mom is coming from Little Rock, AR. Sue Schwarz, my sister-in-law, is coming from San Franciso! She gets to Sitka, I think, at 130pm, or so---so maybe they will meet at SF Airport!! None of the 4 us has ever been on a RS Trip.

Are there any "singles" registered for this trip Aug 15-23? I very much want to see the beauty of Alaska but would rather not be with all couples. I am an active, young 70 year old. Thanks.
Ann Scott Mar 31, 2014 at 09:51 AM

Aileen, Hi. I'm widowed and am going on the same trip. Don't worry about your single status. I've recently done two small ship cruises; on both, I found people to be quite friendly and inclusive. I look forward to meeting you.

ANN R RICHARDS Oct 14, 2013 at 11:25 PM

Can I possibly do both this one and the National Parks trip one after another?? I'm thinking of the July 11-21, Inside Passage, followed by the July 27-Aug 7 Natn'l Parks trip. I'd need to find somewhere to stay in between.
Rachel Potter Feb 04, 2014 at 11:24 AM

Ann- I can't answer your question, but my mother and I will be on ghe July 11 trip and are looking forward to meeting you. My husband and I are doing an independent trip out of Sitka before our cruise. I agree that once you are up there, you might as well take advantage of it. I'm sure you'll find plenty to do between the RS trips. There are also lots of other outfitters, tours available. Good luck!

Tamara Benkosky Aug 27, 2013 at 11:10 AM

We are Steve and Tam Benkosky and are going on the Aug 15 Inland Passage trip. We are from Boone, NC and this will be our first Road Scholar trip and first time in Alaska. Anyone else signed up for this trip?

Christine May Jun 23, 2013 at 06:51 PM

We're doing the July 12 Inland Passage program. Is anyone else going to be on that trip?
