I'll be on the tour starting Oct. 24, and I do speak some French. I'm sure some others will also. I have two questions. A friend in Paris says that he hasn't seen men wearing sneakers. Can we wear them at times during the day and still be respectful to the French? I do have comfy walking shoes, but my sneakers are even better. Also, the Weather Channel web site says that the temp hit 79 degrees in Arles today. Can mature men wear shorts during the day if it's warm? Haven't been to France in many, many years, so I don't know the customs today.

Does someone have a suggestion for electrical outlet adaptors? (There are so many on the market)
Helen Sternheim Aug 16, 2014 at 02:06 PM

Try Walmart or Radio Shack
Melanie Wilcox Sep 16, 2014 at 05:33 PM

Thanks, Helen , I found one.

Melanie Wilcox, you won't have any problems, most everyone speaks English. My husband and I took this trip last Sept We enjoyed it. The weather in Paris was awful, rain, rain and more rain. Other than that, it was wonderful. We had Robert Andre Harvey as our guide. I hope you are as lucky, he was the best! He never complained about my special requests as dinner. I'm a very picky eater. Relax and enjoy!

Donna, Thanks so much! I do plan to relax and enjoy.

I just enrolled for Three Faces of France.... Oct 24 program. I am arriving in Paris on Oct. 24th (a day ahead) Is anyone else arriving early? I am nervous about being unable to speak French.
Travel Nut Aug 13, 2014 at 12:55 PM

Hi Melanie: almost everyone speaks English. You won't have a problem. Sometimes in wouthern France in Villages they don't speak English but if you can find a teenager, they all speak English and love to practice their English on you! I spent 2 weeks in France by myself and spoke very little French, always remembering to at least say Bonjour before saing anything else. Then they know you're trying :-)

Travel Nut, Thanks so much! Or I should say, "Merci"!

My husband and I are considering this trip for oct 24 - Nov. 5, 2014. I'm concerned about the weather. Would welcome any advice/anecdotes about the weather in the three areas visited at this time of year.
