I am going on the Sept. 18th trip, leaving from JFK. Hoping to hear from others scheduled for the same. It will be my first trip to Europe.
Nancy Johnson Sep 13, 2014 at 07:02 PM

This is Ken and Nancy Johnson from Seattle. We are also on the September 18 trip. Our first Road Scholar experience
Kathleen DeMatteo Sep 14, 2014 at 09:12 PM

Thank you for responding to my post, Nancy. My only
Kathleen DeMatteo Sep 14, 2014 at 09:14 PM

I'll try again. Thank you for responding to my post, Nancy. My only experience with Seattle is a layover at the airport, but even from there I could see that it is a very beautiful place.

Nancy Hawkins Joines Sep 10, 2014 at 11:15 AM

My husband's father landed on Normandy so we're excited about this trip. We're leaving JFK on October 9.
Gail Michaels Sep 10, 2014 at 03:18 PM

I'm also very interested in Normandy and it's why I chose this trip. My uncle flew bombing raids there. The bravery of those men streaming onto the beaches amazes me.

Bruce White Sep 01, 2014 at 08:58 PM

I'm going on the October 3rd trip; coming from Norfolk, VA and leaving for Paris from Newark,NJ on. Anyone else leaving Newark?
Bruce White Sep 01, 2014 at 09:15 PM

Correction: I'm leaving from Dulles. Anyone else leaving Dulles?

Anyone from Chicago on the Oct 03 trip?

Anyone from Chicago on the Oct 03 trip?
Nancy Hawkins Joines Sep 10, 2014 at 11:01 AM

My husband and I are doing the Paris/Normandy trip - leaving from JFK.

Gail Michaels Jul 15, 2014 at 09:18 PM

Anyone going on the Oct 9 trip?
Judith Stearns Aug 10, 2014 at 10:38 AM

Yes, I am. I live in CT and will fly to Paris from here. This is my first Road Scholar trip and first time in Paris.
Gail Michaels Aug 10, 2014 at 09:46 PM

Hi Judith! I will be flying from Orlando and then Atlanta. This is also my first Road Scholar trip and first trip to France. I'm a native of Maine and lived in NH most of my adult life. Now a full time resident of Florida. Will you be traveling on your own? I was hoping there would be a few "singles" like me on the trip.
Judith Stearns Aug 10, 2014 at 10:08 PM

How great to hear from you! ME and NH are long time hiking and vacation places for my family. Yes, I am traveling single, I lost my husband about 5 years ago, am 79, but very independent and active, fit, and energetic. I am excited about the trip and have begun to think about clothes and especially shoes. Hope to chat again, Judy
Gail Michaels Aug 13, 2014 at 12:34 PM

I'm sorry about the loss of your husband. It sounds like you are active and involved in life. I am not as active and fit as I should be but definitely fortunate compared to many others my age and even younger. I am 63 and just retired from the US Forest Service last week. This trip is a retirement gift to myself. I've been thinking about clothes and all that for a couple months now- the anticipation is fun in itself! I'm most excited about Normandy- I've always wanted to see it. A little worried about speaking French- I took a couple years in high school but was never very good at it. I want to work on it before I go.
Judith Stearns Aug 15, 2014 at 10:07 AM

I think we might have quite a bit in common. My husband was extremely involved in the Catamout trail, back country ski trail, 300 miles in VT from MA to Canada. He worked for years as a volunteer on the Trail and as Chairman of the CT Assoc., and made many friends in the FS ( Green Mt. Nat'l Forest) and worked very closely with them. Where were you stationed? Am reading Adam Gopnik's "Paris to the Moon" - a great look at Paris and France in general.
Gail Michaels Sep 02, 2014 at 10:47 PM

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you- was up in Maine with no internet access. I worked for State and Private Forestry out of the Durham, NH field office. I knew quite a few folks on the White Mountain NF, but not too many on the Green. I'm looking forward to meeting you- it does sound like we have a lot in common!
Judith Stearns Sep 05, 2014 at 10:09 AM

I am going to ME ( Acton on Great East Lake) on Sunday for a quick stay on
Judith Stearns Sep 05, 2014 at 10:11 AM

I sm going to ME ( Acton on Great East Lake ) on Sunday for a quick stay and last swim. I am constantly thinking of things to read, take, anticipate, etc for our trip. I am really looking forward to the entire adventure. Judy
Nancy Hawkins Joines Sep 10, 2014 at 12:21 PM

We're - Don and Nancy - doing the October 9 trip leaving from JFK.
Judith Stearns Sep 11, 2014 at 09:59 AM

Hi Nancy, Just touching base and saying hello. Normandy is really very special to you and your husband. My father was in the Navy in the South Pacific. Looking forward to meeting you.
Ginny Bowling Sep 26, 2014 at 11:09 PM

I'm going on the Oct. 9 trip, leaving from Atlanta on Air France flight 681 at 5:40 pm. I'm traveling alone. This is my first Road Scholar trip, and I'm very excited to meet all of you.
Nancy Hawkins Joines Sep 30, 2014 at 09:22 AM

Hi Ginny - This is our first Road Scholar trip as well. We live close to Charlotte, NC. It would have made more sense for us to fly out of Atlanta (with you!) but our children are in the NY area and we're used to going to NY. We're excited about the trip.

Carol Hitchie May 22, 2014 at 11:54 AM

I'm on the Oct 03 departure; anyone arriving a day early? Thought of getting a Paris Greeter arranged for a 3 hour walking tour and relaxing a bit before the tour begins. Carol
Pauline S May 22, 2014 at 03:17 PM

Carol fyi I arrived a day early on the April trip and couldn't check into the room until 3pm. I was able to leave my suitcase in a room at least.

Linda C Mar 01, 2014 at 10:32 AM

I am enrolled in the September 5 trip and am interested in chatting with others who are registered. This is my first RS trip.
