Karen C
Hi my husband Lee and I are taking our first RS trip, and first cruise. We are coming from Cleveland, OH, and flying out of JFK on British Airways at 7:00pm Friday. We layover in London, and fly out on BA to Athens at 8:20am. We are looking forward to meeting the rest of Green group in Athens. See you all soon.

Hi Karen and Lee -- See you in Athens!
Ann Hunt Apr 14, 2015 at 04:04 AM

Safe travels! Excited to meet everyone.

Road Scholar instructions say to bring copies of prescriptions with us. Our pharmacy said just to bring pill bottles. Do you think we need paper copies of prescriptions in addition to bottles? Linda and Dick (Team Blue, leaving out of Cincinnati)

It sounds like a bunch of us are "green". Looking forward to meeting you all. Patty

Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Pat Highet Mar 30, 2015 at 10:06 PM

Hi Mary,
I received my green stickers today, as did my friend, Linda. We live in Seattle. Linda's two cousins, Sally and Phyllis (Oregon and Arizona) will also be with us in the green group.

Hi all.

Who is in Group Green? I am coming from San Francisco area and am getting very excited. This will be my 2nd RS trip.

Heads up to anyone who hasn't obtained Turkish visa. The only way to pay for the visa through the Turkish evisa website is with a Mastercard or Visa that is okayed for international use AND is 3D Secured. We have cards with two national banks and neither of them offer 3D security. A Visa card would say "Verified by Visa" and Mastercard would say "MasterCard SecureCode." Apparently, US Bank and Bank of America offer these cards, but rather than apply for a new credit card, we used a visa/passport service called VisaHQ. They charged an additional $39 per visa, but in view of how much we're spending on this trip, that seemed like a drop in the bucket. RoadScholar said no one else had indicated having a problem because of the need for 3D Security (which adds an extra layer of security for online transactions, but is often detested by both customers and merchants. In this case, the "merchant" is the Turkish Embassy.).

I paid on my visa from Canada and with exchange rate toltal cost was $78.A little costlier than $20.
Dawn Craig Mar 23, 2015 at 07:11 PM

Sorry to hear that. We took the trip last September into October and did not have that problem. I hope you love the trip. We certainly did!

My husband and I will be on the April trip. Our second Road Scholar trip, but first cruise. We are flying out of Cincinnati to Paris, then to Athens. We would appreciate any tips about clothing that time of year, cruise ship, packing, cell phones, etc.
