Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

How did you all like this trip? What did you like the best? What would you do differently? My best friend and I are going in May 2015.

My husband and I are doing the Sept. 28-Oct.3 train trek. We are renting a car in Albuquerque on the 22 of Sept. and taking a leisurely drive to Sedona. Anyone have recommendations on "must dos" in the Sedona area or from NM there? We will be taking a shuttle at the end of the week to Flagstaff to connect with Amtrak and are wondering if anyone might be going that route.???

Lunch and a self guided tour at La Posada Hotel in Winslow, AZ was a special treat for us.

My husband Joseph and I are going on the May 4-9 trip to Sedona and Grand Canyon. We'll take the shuttle from Phoenix airport Sunday morning. Any recommendations from the reading list? Sara

This will be my first trip with Road Scholar. I'm visiting Sedona, Az. beginning May 4. 2014. I'm traveling solo from Atlanta, Ga. Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

I'm also going on the May 4-9 trip to Sedona and Grand Canyon, and am also traveling solo on my first Road Scholar trip! I look forward to meeting you! - Jolie

We're planning to attend this program Oct. 13. Was looking for info. about baloon rides. Would like to surprise husband with a sunrise trip. Of the two companies listed, does anyone have knowledge or recommendation of either?

Carol, enjoy your 2 back to back Road Scholar adventures -- a week of volunteering followed by a week in Sedona and at the Grand Canyon. Enjoy!

Upon conclusion of Cameron AZ program on 3/9, planning to travel to Sedona for another Road Scholar program. Will have car rental if anyone wishes to share a ride. Will then go from Sedona to Phoenix airport on 3/15.

Kay, I've arranged for shuttle service on 3/15 from Sedona to Phoenix - not renting a car. See if Van Go shuttle can accommodate you and friend as well: 866-448-2646
Kay Hoffman Jan 26, 2013 at 10:27 AM

Carol, We have made arrangements for a shuttle as well, I just thought this would be more economical for all. Thanks anyway and see you at the program.

How are the accomodations at the Grand Canyon Village. Which lodge do you stay in?
James Donellan Nov 12, 2012 at 08:05 PM

Found the accommodations very good. We stayed in the Maswik hotel.
