I would like to do a tour of New Grange when we have time at the end of the trip in Dublin. Im on the 10/16 Enchanting Ireland Town and Country trip. Anyone else interested?
Libby H Oct 09, 2015 at 07:32 AM

Hi, Barbara. This sounds like a great idea. Did you have a particular tour in mind?
sheila johnston Oct 13, 2015 at 06:33 PM

It does sound interesting

Paul Mayerowitz Sep 26, 2015 at 12:51 PM

We are on the Oct 2 departure leaving from Newark. Anyone else from Jersey?

Leanne Pander Sep 25, 2015 at 03:57 PM

My husband and I took this trip in Oct. 2014, and we traveled to Ireland a whole day earlier than the rest of the group, so could not use the RS transportation from the airport. I found a wonderful transport company called Silverbus (www.silverbus.ie) that picked us up at Shannon and delivered us directly to the Falls Hotel for 60 Euros "door-to-door." I believe they would have taken up to 4 people for that price. We were driven in a comfortable car by the very competent and friendly young woman who owns the business. I highly recommend Silverbus if you can't get the RS transfer. Have a great time on the trip, it was really FANTASTIC! -- Leanne in Maine
Elizabeth Keats Oct 15, 2015 at 12:22 PM

Would I have to book it ahead? I'm hoping I can get the transfer, but I'm not sure they'll wait for me.
Leanne Pander Oct 16, 2015 at 08:12 PM

We did book Silverbus in advance, but didn't have to pay until the ride. If you email her through the website, I'm sure she'll get back to you quickly with an answer. If you call or email Road Scholar they should be able to tell you whether they'll be available for your later flight. Good luck!

Elizabeth Keats Sep 24, 2015 at 11:19 AM

Is anyone else arriving at Shannon around 12:30. I didn't fly through RS, but I hope I can get the group transfer so I don't have to do the two buses and hours more traveling. :(
sheila johnston Sep 24, 2015 at 09:04 PM

I think if you let RS know when you are arriving, they will fetch you... as long as its on your form... the Participant thing...
Marjorie Goldman Sep 26, 2015 at 04:40 PM

My friend and I get to Shannon at 12:30, connecting through Heathrow. Are you on the October 2 trip?we are leaving from Philadelphia.

My brother and I are on the 10/16 trip, our first RS trip, flying out of Newark. Does anyone know if "dressy" clothes are needed, maybe for the Abbey Theatre? Hope not, dont want to pack them!
Florence (Renzie) A Sep 19, 2015 at 03:16 PM

Wrinkle free slacks and a sweater or vest will be as dressy as I get, given that we have to travel light.
Paula Baker Sep 20, 2015 at 12:04 AM

Throw on some snazzier jewelry for the theatre...that's all that you'll need! Have a ball on your first RS trip! You may want to record a short video (if your camera allows) on the bus, while they're playing Irish music...also do the 'live' postcard posing at the Temple Bar. Google 'webcam Dublin' and you'll see the shot - it's even got sound! You can wave at and holler to friends back home if you coordinate the time for them to be watching - it's a live feed there. Slainte!!!
Paula Baker Sep 20, 2015 at 12:06 AM

Here's the link to the Temple Bar webcam: http://www.earthcam.com/world/ireland/dublin/?cam=templebar
sheila johnston Sep 23, 2015 at 08:21 PM

very cool!
Elizabeth Keats Sep 24, 2015 at 11:17 AM

thanks! Black pants, sweater and snazzier jewelry it is!

Chris Cecconi Sep 13, 2015 at 01:13 PM

Greetings! Looks so far like Susan and Sue are also on the Sept. 19 trip. We live in upstate NY and are flying out of Newark. We are excited about this trip. I think my husband would love to go golfing if anyone is interested and we will definitely do the Guinness tour in Dublin. Looking forward to meeting everyone and having a fabulous experience.

Sue Gray Sep 04, 2015 at 09:40 AM

I would like to do this trip but don't have a travel partner. I am in the Tampa Bay area of Florida if anyone else is. Sue
Florence (Renzie) A Sep 04, 2015 at 12:05 PM

Sue, usually they try to pair singles up with a roommate. Why not call and ask?
Jackie Switzer Sep 04, 2015 at 01:35 PM

Please don't pass this up for lack of a roommate. You can request a room mate from RS. If they have one, you are put together. If they don't have one, you get a room all to yourself. I have requested a roommate on several trips and never had a bad one! Go and enjoy. The groups are very congenial and accepting.
Susan Bausch Sep 08, 2015 at 07:54 PM

Sue, I am already signed up for Sept. 19 and Road Scholar will be assigning me a roommate. I did that for their Paris trip and met a wonderful friend that way. So sign up! You will have a great time.

Florence (Renzie) A Sep 01, 2015 at 12:51 PM

Hi All! I will be traveling on the October 16th trip to Ireland (solo)and am really looking forward to participating in everything and meeting all of you. I'm flying out of Newark. Anyone else flying from there?
sheila johnston Sep 01, 2015 at 06:38 PM

I am flying out of JFK
Elizabeth Keats Sep 01, 2015 at 06:53 PM

Unfortunately, I'm going from Chicago to London to Shannon, an ordeal, but I'm using my miles. I'll probably sleep through the first two/three days.
sheila johnston Sep 05, 2015 at 10:43 PM

Elizabeth..you cant beat miles and there will be n sleeping allowed...kidding
sheila johnston Sep 05, 2015 at 10:44 PM

*no sleeping
Elizabeth Keats Sep 06, 2015 at 07:37 AM

Now we know who the bossypants is going to be. ¿¿
sheila johnston Sep 07, 2015 at 09:21 AM

sheila johnston Sep 16, 2015 at 06:52 PM

One month to go! Is everyone all packed?
Elizabeth Keats Sep 17, 2015 at 12:52 PM

Well, does clothes spread out on a bed in the spare room count? Somewhere I read a list of what to bring (which I can't find now) and I remember that we need something dressy. I hope that just means a nice sweater and pants--what do you think? I like to pack light, and I don't want to bring extra shoes and clothes for a one time event.
