See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.

Our first Road Scholar was this one in Feb. We loved it and are now going to Chesapeake Bay on other one late this month with our daughters. We read many of the books on the reading list prior to our trip an it made everything more interesting. We especially enjoyed Cornelia Walker Bailey's book on Sapelo.

I enjoyed her book, God, Dr. Buzzard and the Bolito Man. It was informative and described the culture. Currently I am reading William McFeely's Sapalo's People. And I hope to read a few more books re Jekyll Island and St. Simons too. Enjoy the Chesapeake Bay trip.

Our program begins April 12th, 5 days in the Barrier Islands. It is the first Road Scholar program for my husband and me. Any tips? Any feedback from someone who has done this trip? Thanks in advance.

Mary, my wife and I have been on over 10 RS trips, mostly overseas. We have done family and grandkids. All have been wonderful. Barrier Islands is no exception. The guides and lectures were outstanding. You will love it. Nothing special to bring - sunscreen, maybe a windbreaker, shorts. Rusty was our Coordinator and he among the best we have had and wait til you meet Georgia Graves - she will blow you away.

Thanks for your help, Michael. It sounds like a fun trip. I enjoy travel and active vacations! Most of our vacations we do on our own, but I have done some group hiking treks with Andes Adventures (who I highly recommend) if you want to visit Machu Picchu or Patagonia. Happy Travels!

Our program begins April 19. We will be at one of the airports; Brunswick, Jacksonville or Savannah on the 19th. Have not purchased air tickets yet. Anyone arriving at one of these airports on the 19th and willing to share the shuttle for big savings? DeForest, Wisconsin 608 846 5533

Hi Linda, my wife (also Linda) and I are arriving in Athens a day early to visit friends and get some rest prior to the departure of the tour. We are also staying over three extra nights in Venice at the end. We are flying from Washington Dulles.

My husband and I are going March 22-27. We would enjoy meeting others on this adventure. Anyone else going next week?

My wife and I are taking the Feb 22-27 program. Anyone else?

Jeanne Fischer Jan 10, 2015 at 06:36 PM

I'm doing the January 25 tour, traveling from Alaska to Jacksonville. Looking for another independent traveler to share transportation from Jacksonville to St Simons Island. (I see that the charge for A2B Transport is for up to two people.)
Jeanne Fischer Jan 15, 2015 at 04:50 PM

Now I have a reservation for Sunday 1/25 at 11:30 a.m. from a Jacksonville Airport hotel to St Simons Island. Is there anyone on the tour who would like to share that ride from Jacksonville?
Chris Lewis Jan 15, 2015 at 05:30 PM

Jeanne - My wife and I are arriving in Jacksonville at around noon on Sunday 1/25. We are renting a car at the airport. Would you like a ride to St. Simons Island?

Michael Groves Dec 16, 2014 at 07:40 PM

We are doing the Mar 1 tour. We live in Louisiana. This will be our 7th RS tour and all have been wonderful.
