Fellow RS Scholars...After 65 years of very active lifestyle, am starting to have some medical issues but want very much to go on this trip next May. Just "how" challenging is the trip??
David Owens Sep 29, 2015 at 03:31 PM

Deborah, we have the exact same question -- we're in our 70s, walk about 1 hr/day, but are definitely not "hikers." Fortunately, the program description tells just how many hours are walked each day, plus says that overall it's 3 to 5 miles daily. Averaging the hours = about 2.2 hrs/day, and assuming 4 miles walked, that's less than 2 mph, not a fast pace at all. But one reviewer did say "the physical activity was enjoyable, but was forced outside comfort zone on occasion." So hard to really tell. Personally, I'm inclined to go for it. Sounds like a great program.

There are 2 other people besides me flying from ATL to Zurich on Mon, Aug 24, 2015. I would like to meetup with them during this long flight.

Hi Patricia,
I am also doing the Aug. 24- Sept. 6 program and will be flying out of Dulles (DC) on United at 6:00. I guess we will meet in Zurich. Mary Niell

My husband and I are arriving in Zurich a day early and plan to meet the group at the airport at 8:30 am on Aug 27. We are from CT and flying out of Boston.

My husband and I are excited to be going on this trip in June 2014. It is our 1st RS trip, but we are going with my sister, a veteran RS traveller. Hope to hear from some fellow travellers for this trip!

Howard Barkan Aug 06, 2013 at 09:16 AM

If anyone from the June 2013 trip happens to check this discussion board, us August folks would appreciate any comments about it, lessons learned, etc. Like what to bring or not to bring, thoughts about the trip, etc. Thanks!
