Shorts acceptable? But why? Then again it probably will be ok - Italians, have a high tolerance for foreigners' fashion foibles EXCEPT when it culturally offends. But do not fear it will immediately be brought to your attention

Are shorts acceptable?
Ellen Rossi Apr 13, 2015 at 02:19 PM

You should dress comfortably and pack some long pants. Staff in some churches will ask visitors with tank tops or short shorts to don a woven paper poncho. Regarding weather, in some hill towns the temperature can vary widely from midday to evening. Best to check 10 day forecasts on the web.

Hello to all my fellow travelers going to Tuscany on May 3, 2014.
I am flying in a day early, is anyone else doing that? I would love to chat with all that are going. Thanks, Sally
Vicki Mitchell Apr 13, 2015 at 10:21 AM

Hi Sally, Pat and I are on the May 3rd Tuscany trip, too. We love Road Scholar and Italy, so we expect the trip to be excellent. We were in Italy 22 years ago and have been eager to return. After Tuscany, we're taking a back-to-back trip to the Cinque Terra area. We'll be in Florence an extra 2 days at the end, to fill the gap before joining our second group in Pisa. We are retired and live in Albuquerque. Look forward to meeting you!

Hi Vicki and Pat, I am taking the Cooking in Tuscany and will have 4 days between prgrams. Maybe we can adventure in Florence together on May 16th. I will then be taking the train to Lucca. I live in Lafayette Ca and Italy has been on my bucket list for a long time. I am looking forward to meeting you.

Amy Johnson Jun 30, 2014 at 07:07 AM

Well, Deborah, that does make at least 2 of us! Looking forward to meeting you and all others on our trip!
