I am arriving in Montreal July 5 on DAL 5426 at 12:06 noon.
(from Atlanta) would anyone like to share a ride to the hotel?
Also who else is on this trip??
Lisa Borden Jun 25, 2015 at 08:45 PM

My mother (Elaine Cain) and I are looking forward to this trip! I also live in the Southeast (South Carolina) so the break from 100+ days of heat/humidity will be so nice! We are arriving one day early on July 4th and look forward to meeting you!

Who is going to Montreal/Quebec Oct 12?

Marsha Noble Sep 11, 2014 at 08:18 PM

Just wondering about currency. OK to pay in US dollars, or, is there a need to exchange to Canadian dollars?
Juanita Orth Sep 12, 2014 at 11:10 AM

we found that some would take $$; others not. credit card was best and when we got our statement found that the exchanage rate was in our favor. we did get some C $ from atm.....
Road Scholar Sep 12, 2014 at 11:36 AM

Hi Marsha, also of note, if you are going to rely on a credit card, please be sure to speak with your service provider first. Otherwise they may deny charges made outside the United States. Also, some credit cards have foreign transaction fees, which you will want to be aware of if you plan on using your credit card.

are the typical US credit cards ok for Montreal and QC? Is the best way to get money to use the ATMs?
Juanita Orth Jun 10, 2014 at 10:47 AM

no comment? from anybody?
Road Scholar Jun 26, 2014 at 09:40 AM

You should contact your financial institution directly and they would be able to assist you. Many locations outside of the US are requiring ATM cards with "chip-enabled" technology.

My wife and I are considering this program for later in the year. I have a question regarding transportation within Montreal and Quebec City. We are considering driving so that we would have a car in Montreal. If we have a car, would it be possible (necessary ?) to have a car in Quebec ? I know that Montreal has a very nice Metro system, is there public transportation in Quebec ?
Road Scholar Jun 26, 2014 at 09:42 AM

Once you arrive at the program destination, all transportation is taken care of. It is extremely rare that you will need a car on a Road Scholar, and if it is required, it is just because there is no available transportation options to get from the airport/bus/train station to the site.
