I am thinking about doing this in Nov, I am worry about the gardens if the flowers will still be in bloom. Any thoughts

Ciao! I am booked for the March 31, 2014 tour solo and would like to dine with fellow travelers interested in dining (reasonable gourmet) and a little shopping as well as adventure off the program path within Florence. Would love to connect with fellow travelers.
Susan Roos Feb 05, 2014 at 03:35 PM

I'm also going solo on the March 31 program and also enjoy getting about on my own. It would be great to join up for any of our independent meals and see what we can discover. After the program ends, I am going down to Rome for a few days and then returning to Florence for some daytripping in Tuscany. Have you been to Florence before? Ciao, Sunny
Sabina J Feb 05, 2014 at 08:39 PM

Ciao Susan! I've been to Florence decades ago when I was a teenager. But I didn't get to see the real David in the Academy. Want to correct that on this trip. I'm a lazy rather than active traveler. But I'd like to do some shopping for leather gloves and am up for any epicurean adventures for our independent meals (looking for authentic) and would love to shop the Lorenzo area for gourmet treats to bring home. I'm just on the Florence trip this time, with no side excursions. Went to Rome on my own (no tour) a few years ago. I can recommend Casa Howard off the Spanish Steps. Close to everything. Ciao! Sabina

Hi, Sabina. Thanks for telling me about Casa Howard. It looks charming. Maybe next trip. I have booked an apartment in Rome near Campo di Fiori for my stay this time. When I return to Florence, I will also have an apartment near enough to the train station to make it easy to do daytrips by train. I'm looking forward to meeting you -- and the other participants on April 1. My plane does not arrive in Florence until 5:30 PM, so I may miss the first Orientation Meeting and just show up at the first dinner. Less than 2 months to go. Ciao. Sunny

Hi Sunny! Sounds like a great plan. I'm just wondering whether to wear summer clothes with sweaters or winter corduroys. I'm looking forward to meeting everybody and especially you! I'm trying to read up on an Eyewitness Guidebook for tips. We can compare notes. See you soon! Ciao! Sabina

Greetings: I am booked for the May 9-18 program and am looking forward to it. I like the idea of seeing this culture rich city in some depth. After Florence I am headed to Rome for another in depth program on 5-18. Return to St. Louis on the 26th.
James Sprinkle Apr 29, 2014 at 06:30 PM

Hi Bill. My wife Andi & I will be on the Florence tour when you are. We've been reviewing stuff via apps like Triposo and Trip Advisor. Also have some additional places to see there, and hope to find good eats. Your interests? See you there.

James Sprinkle Oct 21, 2013 at 05:11 PM

My wife and I are taking this tour next May, and are looking forward to communicating with our fellow travelers. We live in King NC, and will fly from Charlotte.

Hello, Nancy! I found my list of all the tasty treats from that evening. The cheese listed is pecorino, a sheep's milk cheese. Talk to you more & soon.

Nancy Cook Sep 30, 2013 at 03:09 PM

Fellow travelers: what was the name of that yummy cheese that we ate at the hotel?

Charlotte MacNeice Sep 12, 2013 at 08:01 PM

Yes! Take care on your trip to Firenze. See you all there!
