Carole, I will be going in September. I am retiring on July 1st. This is my "graduation" present to myself :)
Carole Schoneman Jun 12, 2014 at 11:14 PM

What a nice present, Kayo.
Carole Schoneman Jun 12, 2014 at 11:14 PM

What a nice present, Kayo.
Carole Schoneman Jun 12, 2014 at 11:16 PM

What are you doing before you retire? I'm a retired teacher.
Kayo Wicks Jun 13, 2014 at 10:39 PM

I am a school librarian. They gave me a retirement party today. What fun. My last day of work is actually this coming Wednesday. What di you teach?
Carole Schoneman Jun 14, 2014 at 09:29 AM

I taught elementary grades and was a speech pathologist in the secondary schools.
Carole Schoneman Jun 14, 2014 at 09:30 AM

I lived in southern California and now I am retired and living in Tempe, Arizona.
Kayo Wicks Jun 14, 2014 at 07:19 PM

My sister has a place in AZ. She lives there half Time. I was at a k-12 school so I got to work with all levels. I loved it. Have you been on road scholar trips before?
Carole Schoneman Jun 14, 2014 at 07:58 PM

This is my first one. I'm excited because I have heard such good things about Roda Scholar.
Carole Schoneman Jun 14, 2014 at 07:58 PM

My friend Jan has been on several.
Kayo Wicks Jun 14, 2014 at 09:16 PM

My sisters and my dad have loved them. That's why I chose this too. I'm very excited. It looks like you had one cancelled. I hope that doesn't happen this time.
Kayo Wicks Jul 05, 2014 at 06:43 PM

Hey Carole, have you heard anything about how many peopl are going?

Carole Schoneman Jun 11, 2014 at 12:39 PM

I am curious to know how many of us are going in September.

Christine Taft Jan 28, 2014 at 11:47 AM

We're looking forward to going in March.
Carole Schoneman Mar 15, 2014 at 04:10 PM

I'm anxious to hear about your trip. We were signed up for May and there weren't enough people going, so we're going in September.
Christine Taft Mar 15, 2014 at 04:29 PM

Hi Carole, We just returned. We were the first group and so there are a few things they'll adjust for the next group. This should be a good combination trip for you and your friend. Tikal is amazing and the guide that took us there knew just how to make the most of our time. They did a great job of tying the ancient Maya with the current descendents. Leo, who was our guide in Costa Rica knew his birds inside and out and will be happy to share as many as you are interested in. As in any trip, there were places that I wished I'd had more time and places that I could have skipped. Still fascinating trip. We had 12 participants - a very good size group.
Carole Schoneman Mar 15, 2014 at 06:24 PM

Thank you, Christine. Do you have suggestions of what we should takke with us?

Christine Taft Jan 28, 2014 at 11:47 AM

how many will be in the group for May?
Carole Schoneman Mar 15, 2014 at 04:10 PM

I think that one was cancelled for lack of people.

Has anyone signed up for this program?
Carole Schoneman Jan 06, 2014 at 01:09 PM

Yes, a friend and I are looking forward to going in May. She is an artist and especially interested in Guatemalan art and textiles. I am more interested in Mayan ruins and birds.
Carole Schoneman Jan 12, 2014 at 01:14 PM

Friends who have lived in Costa Rica and currently have friends in Guatemala consider it to be a superb itinerary.
