See all of our Most Popular programs.

See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

can we bring low dose aspirin and ibuprofen into Cuba as donations.
Kira Dirlik Oct 21, 2014 at 09:02 AM

I am still pondering what to bring. Have any folks who have already been there actually asked Cuban people what they would like us to bring?

Kathleen Berglund Oct 15, 2014 at 01:58 PM

We are on the Oct. 21 and would like some advice about currency - how much per person and what denominations.
Richard Hannegan Oct 15, 2014 at 03:05 PM

$50s and $100s are accepted. RS has suggested amounts in the trip-specific documents. Better to take too much than too little. Be wary about buying souvenirs -- Customs may confiscate things especially if the inspector is having a bad day.
Kira Dirlik Oct 21, 2014 at 09:01 AM

In what sense be wary? What kinds of things do they confiscate?
Richard Hannegan Oct 21, 2014 at 10:53 AM

I believe this information is contained in the trip literature.
Kira Dirlik Oct 22, 2014 at 08:21 AM

Cuban I know you can't being produce like cigars, rum, coffee, etc. But I was thinking of "souvenirs" as more crafts, etc., and I thought art was fine. Although, technically, art is also a product of Cuba.
Kira Dirlik Oct 22, 2014 at 08:22 AM

Sorry. Haven't had my coffee yet. I meant to say I know you can't being produce like cigars, rum, coffee, etc. But I was thinking of "souvenirs" as more crafts, etc., and I thought art was fine. Although, technically, Cuban art is also a product of Cuba.
Richard Hannegan Oct 22, 2014 at 09:26 AM

There's a pretty big gray area there as you suggest. Arts and crafts seem to be okay. One guy in our group had an entire suitcase full of stuff....including coffee and cigars...and went through Customs unchallenged. We came back during the 'sequester' period and I suspect the aents weren't terribly enthusiastic about what they were doing.Hopefully someone who has returned from Cuba recently can provide updated information.

I am on the Nov 4 trip, coming from West Linn, OR. I am arriving in Miami late late the night before so might be interested in taking the Miami city tour.
Kira Dirlik Oct 11, 2014 at 03:28 PM

I will be arriving before noon right on the 4th. I figured I'd check in to the hotel and then hang out until others start arriving. I can't wait !
Elizabeth Fithian-Barrett Oct 14, 2014 at 02:03 AM

Hello Kira, we are also Oregonians, coming from Portland.

Kira Dirlik Oct 10, 2014 at 01:03 PM

Now that the Nov. 4 - 12 trip is nearing, we did hear, here, that one other couple is coming. Anyone else? I'm coming from central NC.

Recent participants: Any comments about the meat versus the vegetarian meal option?
Maureen Hutchinson Oct 10, 2014 at 10:12 AM

I thought the food was great. generally meat and vegetables, seafood. As a low carb person, the choices were great for me.

Kathleen Berglund Oct 07, 2014 at 02:33 PM

My husband & I are traveling on the October 21 trip; flying out of Boston. Anyone else on this trip?
Linda Akhavein Oct 13, 2014 at 10:07 AM

I'm on that trip and coming from Tallahassee. I want to take the Miami tour, but so far no one else has signed up.
Kathleen Berglund Oct 13, 2014 at 12:10 PM

My husband arrive in Miami around 3:00 pm on Oct. 21, so I don't think we will have time to tour Miami.

Sharon Moya Oct 05, 2014 at 07:06 PM

Is there a spot on the Road Scholar website where there are suggested donations for the Cuba Today trip? I thought I remembered seeing that there was a specific place to go for this information.
Nancy Lui Oct 10, 2014 at 10:09 AM

Sharon: I saw a list in my info packet. Look for an email from RS with the link to your info packet. If you scroll down this discussion board, you'll see other ppts' suggested donations, too.

Has anyone signed up for April 14, 2015?
