Road Scholar
Program #20437RJ
9 Days | 8 Nights
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I'm interested in this program, am open to almost any dates listed. Is anyone from Wisconsin planning on attending any of these dates?

Kira Dirlik Aug 29, 2014 at 09:50 AM

Are others getting steeped in things Cuban? In "The Cuba Reader" I'm up to the first part of the 20th century and by coincidence just watched a rather bizarre movie on HBO called "Before Last Night" about the life of Cuban author Reinaldo Arenas. The prep and anticipation of the trip are as much fun as the trip!

On the 10/14/14 trip...5 of us from Georgia. Who else?
Alice Steyaart Aug 27, 2014 at 06:30 PM the way!

Elizabeth Fithian-Barrett Aug 25, 2014 at 12:37 AM

My husband and I are on the 11/4 departure. I've been doing some reading [from the recommended list] and enjoying learning about this close neighbor. We are coming from the West Coast and will be in Miami/Everglades for a few days before.
Kira Dirlik Aug 25, 2014 at 10:38 AM

I will be on the 11/4 trip also. I was hoping one of these 24 would post. I will be arriving on the 4th from Pittsboro, NC. Right now I am well into the 722 page recommended book "The Cuba Reader", the size isn't daunting because it is a series of many very short excerpts from many writings, and is very interesting. I'm looking forward to meeting you and your husband, Elizabeth.

Hola Road Scholars! I will be the Road Scholar Group Leader for the 20437 program starting on 09/23/14. I'll be sending out an informational email to all registered participants of that program two weeks before the program, but if you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to post here. I will check the board every week. Looking forward to meeting you soon!

So will you be doing the February 24-March 4, 2015 trip? My husband and I will be going, along with my sister and a friend of hers.
Patricia Novak Aug 27, 2014 at 10:38 AM

So looking forward to this adventure and eager to know what "donations" will be helpful to those we visit.

Hello all, a friend and I are signed up for this program March 3. We're two ladies from LA and it's our first Road Scholar trip. We're really looking forward to it! Anyone else out there signed up for the March 3rd departure?

My husband, sister and a friend are going on this trip in February. What can anyone tell me about Wi-Fi access in the hotels or elsewhere?
Susan Kaufman Aug 07, 2014 at 03:57 PM

Very slow to none:( Best to anticipate being off the grid completely. (and hi again, Marjorie!)
Freida McDuffie Aug 07, 2014 at 09:34 PM

agree with Susan....even when available Wi-Fi very expensive
