The weeks of counting down are now in the DAYS - my excitement level is getting high.
Are there any bridge players joining us on the Feb 8-15th trip? If so, I'll pack some playing cards. Bringing binoculars, as well. Oooh. Can't wait to meet you all. PegLeg

Hi to all who are going on the Gray Whale Watching trip. I am reading "Miraculous Air" by O.M. Mayo - a wondrous account of much of what we are going to see and experience on our trip. It is making me count the days even more. Can't wait to meet all on the February 8-15th trip. PegLeg

Hi all,
I just signed up for the March 10 tip and am super excited. Booking the flight from Houston, the best I could get was a flight that will get me to the hotel on 3/10 an hour after the official start (by 11:00 AM). Does anyone know when the group actually leaves the hotel for Scripps that morning? Should I arrive the night before?
Thanks,
Ilana Reisz

You must have decided by now. I'm going on the March 10 trip, too. I'm staying in the hotel on Saturday night.

Thanks Judy. I did decide and will be joining you after your brunch on Sunday. I am looking forward to the trip and meeting you. Ilana

Norine, Hi, I've been off the air. Looking forward to meeting you. My plan is to travel as light as possible. Also to use U.S. cash. I guess we will play it by ear. See you soon! Linda

Becky Hutchens Feb 22, 2013 at 10:10 PM

Can't wait! Hope it is warm, it is snowing here.

It's snowing also where I live near Spokane,Wa.

I wouldn't leave anything valuable in your rooms. I also imagine that you shouldn't bring anything too cumbersome as we'll be in small bus.

Norine Nomura Jan 09, 2013 at 07:29 PM

What is the safety like in the hotel rooms or walking about in the towns? Is it "safe" to leave laptops, cell phones, passports, etc in the rooms? How about carrying cameras, money & cell phones in towns? And as far as the boats is it okay to bring purses/small backpacks, cameras, on the boat? Is it better to bring cash (i.e. pesos) or use credit cards? Lots of questions but I haven't been across the board for decades.

I went last year. You can use US dollars or credit cards. No problem. I would not leave any valuables in the rooms unless you put them in the safe. The towns are safe as far as I saw. No one had any problems. We had to put our geer, in plastic bags You can get wet but we did take pictures with our cameras. It was a wonderful trip. Have fun!!
Sheila Bracken Jan 15, 2013 at 11:24 PM

Thanks Pearl for your comments and advice about money and personal items. Looking forward to a fun experience.
