If you want to swim with the baby sea lions definitely rent the long sleeve wetsuit. Will save your arms from the little puppy like nibbling they do. So fun!

I've just made my final payment for the Jan 17th, 2015 Tip to Toe Baja Trip. Any advice from former travelers to this area. I've read the posts from the last two years. Thanks.

could future trips include San Felipe in the north baja

Vicki Burnett Mar 01, 2014 at 04:57 PM

Could you use American dollars for tips and trinkets, or do we need to exchange for Pesos?

Pamela Duchaine Feb 01, 2014 at 03:21 PM

We just completed this trip and it was absolutely wonderful. I will post a review in a few days.
Re footwear..tennis shoes and sandals. I had taken a fleece jacket and a hoodie and there were days I wore them layered. It was cold in the north, especially in the evenings, and I am cold blooded. Some hotels did not have any heat so provided those who asked with space heaters.

Blaire- RS sent me your question, but I don't see it here. If you read down this thread, you'll see that Maria's partner was bitten by a sea lion.

Gail Gompper Jan 29, 2014 at 11:18 PM

OMG, Maria! Was your partner badly bitten? Need stitches or shots? Tho even the thought of a wee nibble would scare me off!

Carolyn Shadle Jan 29, 2014 at 04:31 PM

I have snorkeled in Cabo. I'm sorry, but I don't know how warm the ocean will be in February. Does someone else know?
Birdie Jan 29, 2014 at 04:58 PM

The warmer is warmest in the Fall. February temps will be slightly cooler and will simply minimize the length of time you are in or require a thin wetsuit. Enjoy!
Marla Schwartz Jan 29, 2014 at 06:13 PM

snorkeled out of La Paz. Rented wet suits a bit chilly . My snorkel partner was bitten by a sea lion, not even kidding
Birdie Jan 29, 2014 at 07:12 PM

It is the time of year they are calving and best to avoid them as they are protective parents...even if you mean no harm.
Marla Schwartz Jan 29, 2014 at 08:30 PM

We were there in late March. The guides said it happens ALL the time.

We were there a couple of years ago in mid April. The water was too cold to be very pleasant for long.
