Regarding dress, we had eight 15-17 year old young ladies, when dressed and on the Paris streets looked 18-20 years old. This can draw enough male eyes without being dressed provocatively, so modesty is the guideline. We had young Parisian men walking into doors at the restaurant from looking at the young ladies and not looking where they were walking. Paris weather is not Texas weather. Think in terms of spending the day at the Dallas Art Museum rather than the beach at South Padre Island. It is a memorable trip.

Seriously, your most comfortable shoes! And water bottle holder. My 14 year old, athletic granddaughter actually took a NAP for a few hours one afternoon. But we had been there a few days already. Be prepared to be on the go from day one, morning to night.

No shorts! No tennis shoes! Well, maybe the shoes, because of the strenuous aspect of the Metro. But even casually, try to best the stereotype of the American who doesn't care how she looks!

John Day III Apr 13, 2014 at 08:01 PM

Did the trip in 2012 with 16-year-old grand daughter. We also stayed extra days to do Versailles and the fountains which I highly recommend. Lots of walking and steps on the Metro. Be in shape before you go. Remember, it can rain in Paris. It is a great and memorable trip.

Took this trip last summer, Karen, and it was great, put on your most comfortable walking shoes and get ready for the stairs out of the Metro. Spent a few extra days going to Versailles and the Catacombs under Paris. Have a great time!

Tennis shoes?

All the posts I see are from 2013.... Am I in the right place? My husband and I are doing the July 5, 2014-July 13 trip with our 15 year old Texan granddaughter. Would like to hear from others.
Anne O'Brien Apr 12, 2014 at 09:03 PM

Karen, I got your post on my email. I went last year with my 11-year old granddaughter. We had a great time but 15 is better. Do you have any specific questions?
Karen Zentgraf Apr 13, 2014 at 06:45 PM

Any comments on clothes? I tend to wear shorts a lot at home, but maybe for a grandmother in Paris???

Martha Buell Jul 11, 2013 at 05:14 PM

My granddaughter and I are on the trip leaving July 27. We are staying an extra day to visit Versailles. Is anyone else staying longer?

Diana Vondra Jul 08, 2013 at 04:26 PM

We are taking our grand daughter Abby (13) on the July 13-21 program, would love to contact with any other participants. We leave from Atl.
