Am doing the Cuban trip October 24 to Nov. 1. Will be traveling from Chicago and would like to meet some other travelers prior to arrival in Miami. Am anxious to hear from tour director but guess that info will be forthcoming. Kathy Macari. Am excited because this is a bucket list adventure.

Roberto Gray Aug 08, 2015 at 10:20 PM

Traveling to Cuba Oct 5 to Oct 13. Anyone else going?
Joyce Hanks Aug 15, 2015 at 12:16 PM

Yeah, I'm going, too. I lived in Costa Rica for years, but Cuba was always closed, so I only saw it from airplanes! Eager to see things up close. Joyce
Roberto Gray Aug 15, 2015 at 02:13 PM

Nice Joyce! Costa Rica is great! I have been many times over the past 20 years, but mostly in the west around Quepos and Manuel Antonio. I'm really looking forward to this trip, even though it is just for a week.

Anyone have an idea what the cost is for the optional trip cancellation insurance for the Cuba trip?
Janet Omlansky Aug 04, 2015 at 06:23 PM

I paid $666.00 for 2 of us for this tour in November 2015

Janet Omlansky Jul 30, 2015 at 11:45 AM

My husband and I are going on this tour on 11/11/2015. Anyone out there going the same dates? For those of you who have been before, what are the typical breakfast, lunch and dinner menus? We are very excited!!!

today Carnaval line announced they will commence cruises from Miami to Havana in May 2016. see it before it changes.
Kate Grey Jul 14, 2015 at 11:55 PM

Luckily, until, travel restrictions are lifted, it's just the new Carnival Fathom brand which will sail to Cuba. Like Road Scholar, it's also operating under People to People license, and those ships only hold about 700 passengers. But once restrictions are lifted, it will be no holds barred - ships disgorging 4,000'passengers will dock in Old Havana. Glad I'm beating themt there in October!

Kate Grey Jul 06, 2015 at 11:50 PM

Ooh! So excited. I just booked for Sept. 28 departure. Anyone else in this group?
Henry Armstrong Aug 27, 2015 at 10:35 AM

My husband and I are going on the Sept. 28 trip. We are retired and living in South Carolina (originally from West Virginia). I'm really excited about this trip!
Henry Armstrong Aug 27, 2015 at 10:36 AM

My name is Diana by the way.
Kate Grey Aug 30, 2015 at 10:37 PM

Me too. Nice to meet you, Diana. See you and Henry in Miami. I'm traveling solo and live in Las Vegas.
Kate Grey Aug 30, 2015 at 10:39 PM

I have list of lots of paladars (private restaurants) to try on nights we are on our own for dinner. My hairstylist is Canadian and has been to Cuba many times. Another friend went in May, so they've both given me recommendations.
Kate Grey Aug 30, 2015 at 10:39 PM

Let me know if interested.
Henry Armstrong Aug 31, 2015 at 09:40 AM

We both love Cuban food and are looking forward to eating some good Cuban food. Recommendations would be great. Do you have any suggestions on what type of clothing I should take. Are capris and shorts all right to wear during the day? What do you recommend for nights? I've heard that they dress for dinner. I'm getting really excited since it is getting close!

Marianne Ham Jun 23, 2015 at 07:28 PM

You also can take a cart. I got off the plane and there was an empty cart sitting there and it took 6 people and off we went. Actually my past experiences in the Miami airport coming from South and Central America was the same long walk. I think it has something to do with customs, etc. being closer to connecting flights and baggage claim then to the flights coming in. Who knows.

Susan, I wish I had been warned. YOu were wise to take the wheel chair....
