Road Scholar
Program #11513RJ
11 Days | 10 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

My husband & I are booked on the March 18th trip. Anyone else going the same time?

Jiill Ghnassia Jan 04, 2015 at 01:57 PM

Another thought: I signed up to share, but so far, I have not heard if I have a roommate, let alone who it might be. Anyone have experience with this? Is my roommate out there in cyberspace?
Sandi Bartelstein Jan 04, 2015 at 03:47 PM

Jill, I have traveled with RS as a solo several times and have always found simpatico vacationeers. RS is the best for single travelers. Folks are really friendly.

Jiill Ghnassia Jan 04, 2015 at 01:54 PM

Hi, I am traveling as a single on February 11-21/ Anyone going on the Tropical Splendor trip that begins on that trip? This is my first trip with Road Scholar. Like Sandi, I am really looking forward to seeing Hawaii and meeting new people. Sandi, I hope we can meet sometime, perhaps on another trip. Enjoy yourself.

We went in Oct./Nov. 2014. What a great time! I know you'll meet some great people, Sandi, and that you'll remember this experience fondly.
Sandi Bartelstein Jan 04, 2015 at 01:25 PM

Thanks for the encouraging words. How many people were on your Road Scholar trip?
Jiill Ghnassia Jan 04, 2015 at 01:50 PM

Sandi, I will be going on a Road Scholar trip in February. I am single and this is my first trip. I hope you enjoy your experience. Let me know how you liked it.
Janet Liniger Jan 04, 2015 at 07:57 PM

30+. Just a nice bus load. The speakers/leaders were so interesting and knowledgeable. Nothing like standing on the rim of a volcano with a volcanologist explaining (the one videoing the current activity for the media) what you're seeing.

You'll love it. I took the tour ending October 4. You might want to consider an awesome experience - a helicopter ride over Kauai on your free day - Thursday. Book it when you are at the Prince Hotel - much cheaper than on ship, and often not available because they sell out.
Incredible to see Kauai from the air, and visit Waimea Canyon the next day.

Enjoy the beauty of Hawaii, too much good food, and thoughtful learning!
GORDON BARDEN Oct 17, 2014 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the travel ideas. I'm counting down the days.
Janet Liniger Oct 17, 2014 at 11:47 PM

Thanks so much for the suggestion and the tip about booking at the hotel, Katherine.
Jiill Ghnassia Oct 19, 2014 at 11:20 AM

Katherine, Thanks so much for the tips. I shall definitely book that helicopter ride and visit Waimea Canyon. My trip begins Feb. 11, but I can't wait.

Janet Liniger Oct 16, 2014 at 12:22 PM

Looking forward to Tropical Splendor: Exploring the Hawaiian Island, Oct. 29 - Nov. 8, 2014. Who else is going?
GORDON BARDEN Oct 17, 2014 at 07:01 PM

I will be arriving on the 277th, maybe we can meet on the 28th.

Diana Worthington Oct 01, 2014 at 07:16 AM

Hi Jill,
Did you sign up for the trip leaving Feb 25, 2015? I was but they called and cancelled and I'm now on the trip leaving Feb 11.
Jiill Ghnassia Oct 19, 2014 at 11:21 AM

Hi, Diana, I am not on that same trip beginning Feb. 11. I will arrive in Honolulu late on Feb. 9 but do not know where I am staying until the tour begins on the 11th. How about you? When do you arrive?
Jiill Ghnassia Oct 19, 2014 at 11:22 AM

I meant to write I am NOW on the one beginning Feb. 11. I was on the one on Feb. 25 but was reschedule for the 11th, the same as you!

Jiill Ghnassia Sep 22, 2014 at 12:53 PM

I am taking my first Road Scholar trip, the Tropical Splendor, and first trip to Hawaii, beginning Feb. 25, 2014. Does one receive tickets? Confirmations? Anyone else signed up for this trip? Thanks for your help,
Jill Ghnassia
GORDON BARDEN Sep 22, 2014 at 10:16 PM

I received my Final Information Packet last week, along with luggage tags. This is my third R S trip and I have never had any problems.
Jiill Ghnassia Sep 23, 2014 at 11:46 AM

Thanks for the information, Gordon. I will be looking for my information in early 2015. Enjoy the trip. Would be interested to know how you liked it. Bon Voyage. Jill
