volcano? Hopefully it will not jeopardize the trip. It's a good one esp Sacha Lodge. Airline might have some good info. Marjory Luther

Sacha Lodge was WONDERFUL. Very fave part of the trip.

Melanie Bussard Aug 20, 2015 at 08:14 PM

Does the current volcano activity jeopardize this trip?
Marjory Luther Aug 21, 2015 at 04:22 PM

Which volcano? The airline prob can give you more info.marjory luther
Della Shane Aug 21, 2015 at 06:55 PM

Ecuador has many volcanos, I don't know if there's an issue today. You might check with the Secretary of State's web site.

I have enjoyed South America-- be aware of the high altitude though.
Debra King Feb 06, 2015 at 07:07 PM

What about the high altitude should I be most wary of?

Debra King Feb 05, 2015 at 10:17 PM

I've just signed up for the Oct/15 trip and am really excited. I live in Cambridge, Ontario and have never travelled to South America before. This will be quite the adventure, I'm sure.

This trip sounds very interesting but I have a question --- what are the canoes like? Are they the bigger type or the tippy kind my husband and kids liked? I am not fond of swimming!
Della Shane Sep 20, 2014 at 11:33 AM

Hi Elaine: Gee, I don't know about the type of canoes we'll be using. You might send a message directly to Road Scholar.
Della Shane Jan 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM

Hi Elaine: I went to Ecuador in October. The canoes are flat bottom river canoes, very stable, not tippy at all. You will enjoy this a lot. Plan for lots of walking. Have fun. Della

Anyone from Seattle-area going to Ecuador in October 2014? I am looking forward to this adventure.

Mrs. Susan Picker Feb 27, 2014 at 11:43 AM

Anyone going on the October 25th program? My roommate and I are planning to leave a day early. We are looking forward to this adventure and to meeting the group. We live in South Carolina.
Della Shane Jun 19, 2014 at 05:34 PM

Hi Susan: I plan to go on the Oct program. I will be leaving from Seattle and arriving in Quito on Oct 24. Looking forward to meeting you.
Mrs. Susan Picker Jun 20, 2014 at 09:04 AM

Looking forward to meeting you also, Della. I think it is wise to leave a day early.
