See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Anybody want to be my room mate on the safari. July, or Aug. hope so. Really want to do this. I am a nanny for newborns and I,fish commercially out of Jupiter fl.

Apparently there is a nationwide yellow fever vaccine shortage. Our health dept no longer has it available. I have an appointment to travel a distance to get one of their last vaccines. Attendees might not want to wait till last minute to seek this vaccine.

Robert Torczyer Mar 10, 2014 at 12:32 PM

Packing question - The program info we recieived shows 33 pound limit for main bag plus allowance for up to 11 pound backpack (on-board). We are on the June 6 trip and will need warm clothing. Did they enforce these limits? Also, I would like to bring a couple of SLR cameras and gear -- will this be possible??
Melanie Mitchel Mar 31, 2014 at 09:27 PM

Yes, on the small plane flights they do weigh the luggage

Jack Wallace Mar 03, 2014 at 01:11 PM

I have been thinking of getting a letter from my doctor explaining his advisement against yellow fever vaccine because of the potential side effects. Can anyone who has had the vaccine tell me about their experience. Certainly, I would not want the alternative---Yellow fever.
Barbara Alm Mar 04, 2014 at 10:46 AM

Had mine about 6 years ago; no problems at all. I knew (hoped!) I would be doing traveling to several countries over these past (and future years) where the CDC recommended/required it, so had the shot.
Robert Torczyer Mar 07, 2014 at 06:49 PM

I had no problem either. Any other vaccinations recommended for this trip?

Maureen Hutchinson Jan 30, 2014 at 03:22 PM

Scheduled to take this trip in July. Did any of you get yellow fever vaccination? Doesn't appear to be required by CDC for countries we are visiting.
Dorothy McP Jan 30, 2014 at 08:56 PM

Road Scholar requires the yellow fever vaccination. My county health board highly recommended 4 others, TDAP, typhoid, pneumonia and hepatitus A. I took them all; better safe than sorry.
Maureen Hutchinson Jan 30, 2014 at 09:03 PM

Thanks, Dorothy. I have had them all except the yellow fever; guess I haven't read yet about the requirement. appreciate your prompt answer
Mary Raynard Jan 30, 2014 at 11:01 PM

Yes, thanks, Dorothy! Very helpful. Is there a vaccination for malaria?
Dorothy McP Jan 30, 2014 at 11:20 PM

No, we were given pills to take about a week before we began our tour and ending about 2 or 3 weeks after we were home. My doctor game me pills to take once weekly while some travelers had a daily pill.
Mary Raynard Jan 30, 2014 at 11:52 PM

Very good to know - thanks again!

John Lukasik Jan 22, 2014 at 10:13 PM

We took this trip in Aug 2013. The weather was nearly perfect, cool in the early mornings but warming by 9am. There are blankets available if it is too cool for you on the morning drives. We saw an amazing amount and variety of animals. All the accommodations , even the tents were very comfortable with very good meals. We never felt unsafe due to the experience of the guides.
Mary Raynard Jan 30, 2014 at 11:02 PM

Sounds wonderful!

Mary Raynard Jan 22, 2014 at 09:55 PM

I am so hopeful to see elephants. Does anyone know if there is a best time of year to be able to see them?
Barbara Alm Jan 23, 2014 at 10:50 AM

Went in September 2013--we saw about 1,000 elephants.
Dorothy McP Jan 30, 2014 at 09:08 PM

The dry season is best. Barb was my roomie, and trust me, we saw elephants galore. Giraffe, zebra, rhino and hippos were also plentiful. Enjoy
Mary Raynard Jan 30, 2014 at 11:03 PM

Thanks so much, Barb and Dorothy! I am so eager! It is wonderful to hear from people who have already experienced this. Thanks so much for your comments.

I am on the April 25, 2014 trip. Would love to chat with my fellow travelers!
Howard Hendrich Apr 08, 2014 at 03:36 PM

We are also on the April 25 trip--getting excited!
