Valerie, thanks for the post. I'm going on Sept. 18th and am looking forward to the trip. If there is anything you wish you had known before the the trip, please let us all know.

JACQUELINE BECTON Jul 05, 2015 at 11:28 AM

I hope everyone that is going before my Sept 8th trip comes back to this discussion and tells all about it. Especially prep for the rainy season and what you wish you'd left home or brought with you. I've started my search for a better pair of binoculars.
Danna Moore Jul 05, 2015 at 11:59 AM

We went at exactly that time - left on Setp 9, 2013. The best thing that I took were some good ponchos that I bought the night before we left at either Gander Mountain or Cabellas. Only wore them once the night that we watched the turtles laying eggs on the beach --- in a driving rain. Totally worth it!
JACQUELINE BECTON Jul 07, 2015 at 08:08 AM

Thank you. I will check out Gander Mountain for one.
Danna Moore Jul 10, 2015 at 10:36 AM

The name of our ponchos were Frogg Toggs. They are probably a light weight Tyvex that is coated with a rain proof coating. VERY light weight.
Danna Moore Jul 10, 2015 at 10:39 AM

I found them on Amazon too.
JACQUELINE BECTON Jul 10, 2015 at 09:30 PM

Thank you. Just looked at them and put them on my list. My biggest fear is that at that time of year my trip will be a complete rain out. Seeing th turtles was the only time you needed the poncho? That great!

What do you wish you knew before you went!
Elaine W Jun 25, 2015 at 04:39 PM

This is a lovely, well planned trip. The only thing I wished I had was a better pair of binoculars. Bring a good water bottle and don't let yourself get dehydrated. I hope you have a wonderful time!
Marsha Benda Jul 03, 2015 at 08:21 AM
