Hi all, I am on the Nov 20th trip with an assigned roommate. Anyone out there who might be that person? Thanks for all the recent posts about the trip. Very helpful!

Jo Anne Kusudo Oct 24, 2014 at 11:50 AM

In reply to your question about snorkeling, I tried it for the first time and was uncomfortable, mainly because I wasn't used to the wet suit (was able to rent it on the Galiven- I think it was $40. I went in June-July, so the water was probably warmer than you will experience. I would also bring a small towel to wipe sand off your feet after wet landings. They gave us bath towels on the boat, but they were too large for me to pack, so was lucky I had a small towel of my own.
Todd Betterton Oct 24, 2014 at 05:41 PM

If you are on the TipTop III you will not need to pack a small towel (I did but never unpacked it!) as the guide will bring a bag of towels for every wet landing
Wanda Stephens Oct 25, 2014 at 11:52 AM

Yes, I'm on the a TipTop. Again, thanks for all the helpful info. I'm so excited! Only 4 days!

Wanda Stephens Oct 23, 2014 at 07:19 PM

My trip is next week. Any suggestions or hints or "things you wish you had known before you left"?
Jo Anne Kusudo Oct 23, 2014 at 07:59 PM

The day we made the transition from the Galapagos to Peru was fast-paced and tiring, at least for me. But I don't know how you can prepare, except get a good night's sleep before. I think we arose at about 5:30 that morning and explored an island before having breakfast, then leaving for the airport.
Jo Anne Kusudo Oct 23, 2014 at 08:02 PM

Once I tried to pay for something with $20 bill which had a small tear, and it was rejected. Fortunately, I had a crisp $10, which was accepted.
Todd Betterton Oct 23, 2014 at 08:35 PM

We are in Lima now...headed home tonight...absolutely fabulous trip...don't bother bringing a water bottle...they will be offered need to exchange dollars for Soles till you get to Peru, and only very small amounts at a time...very clean, un-ripped (even tiny rips or folds are refused) dollars in no larger than $20 denomination are accepted everywhere...all places had hair dryers so don't pack one...not HOT anywhere, even on the boat, so plan accordingly...bring Imodium!
Wanda Stephens Oct 23, 2014 at 08:44 PM

Thank you for all the helpful information. I appreciate it. Any problems with mosquitoes?
Todd Betterton Oct 23, 2014 at 08:52 PM

Not this time of year in Galapagos...only place we even had a hint of them was at Machu Picchu
Wanda Stephens Oct 23, 2014 at 09:27 PM

Oh great. And how is the temperature there?
Todd Betterton Oct 23, 2014 at 09:43 PM

Not exactly sure of exact temps, but shorts and tshirts daytime and light long pants/windbreaker at night in Galapagos, Quito, and Lima...dress slightly warmer with possibility of showers in Cusco, Yucay, and Machu Picchu
Wanda Stephens Oct 23, 2014 at 10:24 PM

Ok thanks. That's very helpful. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Wanda Stephens Oct 23, 2014 at 10:49 PM

Oh, one question since you've been so helpful. What about the water at Galapagos? Did you snorkel? And did you wear a wetsuit?
Todd Betterton Oct 24, 2014 at 09:57 AM

Snorkel every day but 1 and everyone used a wetsuit

Colleen Brennan Oct 23, 2014 at 09:37 AM

Hello Todd, Ellen, and Andrea,
My wife and I will be on the Oct. 9th trip. We're getting in a day early to the Antara Hotel so we can look around Lima a little. See you in a few days

Paul Kastner Oct 02, 2014 at 05:21 PM

Oops! Ny wife pointed out to me that there is one tour leaving on the 8th and ours leaves on the 9th. So it looks like we won't be with you after all. Anyway, have a great trip.

Todd Betterton Sep 25, 2014 at 12:36 AM

Has anybody that has been on the Tip Top III recall if they have hairdryers in the bathrooms?
