I guess we don't need any shots -- does anyone know for sure?
Johnnie Northcott Nov 10, 2012 at 08:50 PM

The CDC indicates Malaria and Yellow Fever for this area. Unless there is an extended stay, shots are not required and people I have talked with on similar trips have not taken them.
Diana Sage Nov 11, 2012 at 11:05 AM

Good to know -- thanks!

Hi,everyone, Diana,Ann and Kathryn, I am coming from NY but also arriving in Nassau about 2pm so perhaps we can meet up after luggage and customs and cab share... ?

Hi all!! I'm quoting from the Information booklet I received in the mail: "Once you arrive in Nassau, make your way through immigrations and customs and collect your luggage. Upon exiting the airport, look for your group leader holding a Road Scholar sign. He will assist arriving participants in finding a taxi..... Taxis are typically 8-10 seat minivans, so if there are other participants arriving at the same time, he can help you arrange to share a taxi to the hotel..... The Group Leader will have a list of arrival times for the entire group and will assist upon arrival if needed.....You will need to pay the driver in cash (US Dollars are acepted). The cost of a taxi between the airport and hotel is about $25-30 USD." Since I arrive in Nassau around noon, I might leave for the hotel as soon as I can -- I imagine the airport will be crowded and I can't wait to see palm trees and ocean. I'm so excited and look forward to meeting all of you!! Oh -- I still don't know what seasick meds to buy -- any suggestions?
Rebecca Thomas Nov 06, 2012 at 03:53 PM

I've been using Bonine, available over-the-counter, for years on the recommendation of my brother doctor. Supposedly fewer side effects, such as sleepiness. I take it once a day when seas are fairly calm and two on rough days. Really works.
Diana Sage Nov 07, 2012 at 01:48 PM

Thanks for the info -- I'll try it!

Diana Sage Oct 18, 2012 at 01:25 PM

What kind of motion sickness meds will I need and where can I buy them? Thanks!

Diana Sage Oct 18, 2012 at 01:25 PM

I live in Chesterfield, Virginia and this is my first RS trip -- very excited -- can't wait!!! I'm taking a plane from Richmond and transferring in Atlanta to Nassau. It would be great to meet someone who is taking the plane from Richmond or Atlanta!! Can't wait to see all of you very soon!!!
Ann Washburn Oct 21, 2012 at 12:59 PM

Hi Diana, I fly out of Atlanta on Delta at 12:10pm on Dec 7th, flight 467.
Diana Sage Oct 21, 2012 at 01:45 PM

I arrive in Nassau at 12:09 -- if you like, I could wait for you and we could share a cab to the hotel -- if not, I'll see you soon -- can't wait!!!
Ann Washburn Oct 25, 2012 at 08:23 AM

That would be great. Thanks
Ann Washburn Oct 25, 2012 at 08:25 AM

I should arrive in Nassau at 2:14pm
Diana Sage Oct 25, 2012 at 09:49 AM

I just read the Program booklet I was sent. The directions given were to make your way through immigrations and customs and collect your luggage. This sounds like it could get confusing and time consuming. If we miss each other, I'm sure we'll meet at the hotel.
Ann Washburn Oct 26, 2012 at 10:09 AM

Okay. I will keep an eye out for you.
Carol Phillips Nov 07, 2012 at 01:05 PM

Hey Diana - I'm arriving in Nassau at 12:09 Delta Air Lines DL717 - Let try to meet up at the gate ~
Diana Sage Nov 07, 2012 at 01:59 PM

We'll be on the same plane -- DL717, arrive Nassau 12:09! I'm leaving from Richmond, VA -- are you by any chance -- that would be a hoot! Is there a way to exchange pictures so we can find each other? If not, my seat number is 19B on flight to Nassau -- so glad you contacted me and looking forward to meeting you very soon!!
Carol Phillips Nov 12, 2012 at 04:30 PM

I'm coming in from Raleigh. Don't know what seat I am in - but I'm pretty sure we'll find one another :)

Ann Washburn Oct 17, 2012 at 12:24 PM

I live in Bradenton Fl and would like to meet some people before the trip. This past spring I went to Cuba and met four others who live in Sarasota/Bradenton area for lunch prior to the trip.

Deborah Gooden Oct 13, 2012 at 09:33 PM

Ordered all the offshore trips today and sent in health forms. Locked and loaded for a great trip.
Diana Sage Oct 24, 2012 at 01:43 PM

I haven't received any information yet about the field trips -- I'm interested in zip lining, snorkeling, hiking a volcano -- are you doing any of these things or have you before -- this is my first RS trip!!

ricki gardner Oct 03, 2012 at 06:15 PM

i am open to the idea of sharing even tho' I imagine the rooms are small. Where are you from ?
Kathryn Koch Oct 05, 2012 at 05:48 PM
