Program #2818RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Thanks for responding Adrienne,I went to college in South Bend Ind, and spent time in Chicago week-ends, Great to see what it offers now.

How nice...another Floridian! Looking forward to meeting you Pat. I grew up in Chicago, but haven't been there or done any of those activities in years! It will be a treat!

Any baseball fans attending the Sept. 7-12 program? Are you interested in going to see the White Sox play the A's on Monday or Wednesday evening?
Bonnie Breda Jul 19, 2014 at 11:38 AM

Hope you are able to find someone to go with you to a baseball game. My friends and I went to Wrigley and saw Cubs vs White Sox, very exciting game, but very cold. My other suggestions for your free time is go to the 1/2 price ticket booth on E. Randolph and purchase tix to see Million Dollar Quartet, it was excellent. You can get there on the L. Lunch at the top of the Hancock Bldg was fun & great view. We rode the L around the different loops, so we could get a differnt view of the city and it is a very inexpensive thing to do. If possible, plan to spend extra time at the Chicago Museum. It was our favorite. RS ws on there for 3 hours, but we stayed an extra 3 hours to see and read all the history of the city. My friend and I stayed an extra 3 days after the program, so we could see things that were not included in the program. Went to Navy Pier (don't miss the stained glass exhibit), went to Buddy Guy's Jazz club, went out to one of Frank Lloyd Wright's houses and took a stroll down Michigan Ave. You are going to enjoy the trip.

Thanks Bonnie for the suggestions. I am a fan of riding public transportation - just to see where it goes. I am attending two programs with a weekend in between which I will spend with daughter and her husband going to Cubs games. Halp price tickets sound like an opportunity to enjoy some good theater. Again, thanks for the suggestions.
Candice Wiggum Jul 28, 2014 at 01:19 PM

My sisters and I have talked about going to a game. My younger sis is from Oakland, so the A's might hold special interest!
Mabeth Coleman Jul 30, 2014 at 09:15 AM

I think there is no problem getting tickets so we can talk abojut it after the program begins.
Candice Wiggum Jul 30, 2014 at 09:50 AM

I agree. I checked out tickets for one game while we were going to be there, and it seemed like there were lots available. Being a Boston fan, I'm not used to that :-)

I am interested in the "Signature City Chicago ..." program for Sun 18 May 2014 - Fri 23 May 2014; However, I would be traveling alone and the $425.00 single supplement is prohibitive. Will Road Scholar arrange for a female roommate for this adventure? I'll check back. Thank you!
