I have always wanted to take a camping river trip. Im 85 in good health and a solo traveler. Looking forward to the adventure.

Look forward to meeting you Bob, this trip should be a good test.

Gene Newman Apr 09, 2014 at 11:20 AM

I will be driving from Reno. Leaving on the 2nd. Willing to share the ride. See you there.

Challenging depends upon the height of the river and how much you do. Low water, mostly riding in the boat, and doing minimum hiking can make it moderate. Taking an individual kayak frequently, doing the max hike will be strenuous. I'm 78 also

I've been on other Road Scholar trips rated challenging and they were more moderate.

I live nearby in Las Vegas and this sounds interesting. I am wondering what they mean by challenging since this is mostly on water? I am healthy, but not really top shape and 78 yo. Any ideas
Gene Newman Apr 09, 2014 at 11:16 AM

The hiking is optional and you do not have to paddle at all if you choose not too. I think in this case challenging relates to the primitive camping and wilderness experience.

Just curious; if anyone else really enjoys kayaking? My husband, Cal, and I like mild rapids.

Susan Schellberg Mar 23, 2014 at 09:46 AM

I live in Maryland but am flying with two friends. Really looking forward to it.

Driving from Central Coast Calif. Anyone need a ride? Sounds like a wonderful, challenging trip.
