Program #20612RJ
16 Days | 15 Nights
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I'm on the 3/20 - 4/4 trip and signed up for the last double room
as a single. So, I have an unknown roommate. I'm from Tiburon,

I'm on the 3/20- 4/4 trip to Cuba and got the last double room as a single. Does anyone know if she has an unknown roommate?
I'm from Tiburon, CA and am looking forward to sharing the trip.

Anyone had any success using MasterCard; I know it was supposed to only start yesterday. Checked with my bank last week and they seemed to know nothing about the possibility.
Gary Herse Mar 02, 2015 at 09:43 PM

Technically, some places can accept American credit cards, but we were told it would take around an hour for the transaction to be approved. Just plan on using cash.

They fixed it!

Dottie Marban Mar 02, 2015 at 12:09 PM

I have no idea why my name doesn't appear! It's Dottie Marban.

I'm going solo on the March 13-28 trip and look forward to meeting all my travel companions. Thanks to all for your helpful comments! I'm wondering how strict the charter airline is with weight restrictions. What exactly is a "small" handbag? Is the backpack a good idea? I have some books to take and would like to take as many gifts as I can.
John Cubit Mar 02, 2015 at 05:25 PM

We went on a 737 and the baggage limitations (carry on and checked) were the same for other U.S. airlines.
Dottie Marban Mar 02, 2015 at 05:52 PM

Thanks, John. RS doesn't tell us that. I believe RS takes care of one checked bag, right?
John Cubit Mar 02, 2015 at 10:11 PM

I had a checked bag under the weight limit, a carry-on backpack that easily fit in the overheadI bin, and an Ipad in a compact carrier case (where I also had my passport, tickets, etc.) I didn't pay anything.
John Cubit Mar 02, 2015 at 10:13 PM

But that's the kind of policy that airlines often change.... RS needs to be more helpful in these matters.

Virginia Delavan Mar 01, 2015 at 04:40 PM

Stephanie, the RS booklet hasn't been updated since the president's initiative. Americans are now allowed to bring back $400 worth of purchases including $100 worth of rum and cigars.
Stephanie Hudson Mar 01, 2015 at 05:44 PM

thanks. that's what I heard, wanted to check.

Barbara Anderson Mar 01, 2015 at 03:56 PM

Virginia and Martha,
My husband and I are also on the March 6 to 22 trip. See you there.

Diane Gruver Mar 01, 2015 at 01:32 PM

I was on the 1/30-2/15 Santiago to Havana trip and we were allowed to bring back a total of $100 worth of cigars and/or rum. That was just 2 wks ago.

As things are chaning rapidly, don't count on your printed materials being up to date.
Stephanie Hudson Mar 01, 2015 at 05:46 PM
