Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.

EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.

Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.

I went on this trip as a single and it was awesome! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Mine was in early October and the fall weather was lovely. I can't comment on how it is in June.

Single lady interested in this program. Would be coming from Las Vegas, NV. Haven't decided on date yet,I am retired so anytime after June 10th or so. Any suggestions on best time/weather?

my daughter and i did this trip in late july -- the weather was perfect: cool mornings, warm days, plenty of sun. there were several women traveling solo, one three-generation group (all women), and two or three couples. a nice mix of people.

My wife and I are relatively experienced sea kayakers and would strongly prefer to bring our own kayaks and associated gear. Is this allowed?
Ginger Littleton Dec 06, 2015 at 02:53 PM

I would ask Road Scholar office. there may be insurance issues to deal with.

Call the outfitter; I spoke to the owner and was really impressed with him. My husband and I thought about taking our own kayaks and after some discussion, we decided to use theirs. But just call and ask. I have been on other kayak trips with Road Scholar (on Lake Powell and in South Carolina), and we took our own boats on both of those trips.

Thanks for the responses to my query. I have talked to the outfitter and resolved my question.

I'm curious; what did you decide to do?

If we decide to join this trip we would bring our own kayaks and gear. We do several trips in the georgia Strait each year and prefer to use our familiar/comfortable stuff.

I have never kayaked before. I am concerned about whether this is a good program for me.

Ginger Littleton Sep 27, 2015 at 10:07 PM

They will teach you any kayaking skills you need to know. Do bring fingerless gloves to prevent blisters. Enjoy the evening music!

My husband and I are enrolled in the Oct 4-8 program. Anyone have any tips for us as to what to expect? We have limited kayaking experience. Looking forward to a great time!
Helen Sternheim Sep 27, 2015 at 02:31 PM

You usually get a detail program with times for the different activities the first day of your program.
Linda Manchester Sep 30, 2015 at 12:32 PM

Above and beyond the packet of information we received in the mail?

Does anyone on the 7/5/15 trip want to carpool from Portland? We are planning on driving up on July 4 but could be flexible.
