CBS morning did a story on the pandas as Cheng du and an interview with an American researcher over there. Here's the site where you can see the video. http://www.cbs.com/shows/cbs_this_morning/video/mX_wkimRNwhPi2UawaGb7lxXZYaCGRzP/watch-chinese-researchers-work-to-save-pandas/

I have reading everything I can get my hands on about the giant pandas. Wish we were going to the Wolong sanctuary as originally planned. Is everybody taking hiking boots? I understand the weather will be hot and humid, like here on Cape Cod this summer!
Carolyn Boiarsky Jul 20, 2013 at 06:31 PM

I ordered what turned out to be light weight hiking boots like they said we should have and have been wearing them to walk the dog as a way of breaking them in. Did you read The Last Panda. I'd like to know how we've progressed (I hope) since that book was written.

Have any of you been reading about the disastrous floods in Szechuan Province?

Carolyn Boiarsky Jul 08, 2013 at 01:29 PM

Hi everyone. It's my first trip to China also.
I'd love to know who I'm rooming with?
Fran, I can't take the extension, I'm still teaching at Purdue. Carolyn Boiarsky

Hi Claudia and Jane, was wondering if anybody was extending the trip or arriving early. This will be my first trip to China. Fran Steele

Claudia Blair Mar 01, 2013 at 09:33 PM

Hello. I'd love to hear from anybody else who is taking this trip!
Jane Lang May 22, 2013 at 01:13 PM

Hi Claudia! I'll be going on this trip. Although I travel internationally a lot, this will be my first trip to China. I can hardly wait.
Jane Lang May 22, 2013 at 01:14 PM

I went to Nepal with Road Scholar. It was terrific!
Carolyn Boiarsky Aug 02, 2013 at 11:48 AM

Is anyone taking the United flight from Chicago?
Glenda Denniston Aug 13, 2013 at 10:18 AM

Yes, I am - flight UA835 on 28 Aug. I'll wear my Earthwatch T-shirt and try to have Road Scholar tag in conspicuous spot - maybe on my magenta neck-purse. Glenda Denniston, Madison WI
Carolyn Boiarsky Aug 14, 2013 at 11:43 PM

Terrific. I'll look for you. You've got my picture above and I'm short.
