We are two gals doing the Tetons hiking trip from 8/10-15, 2015, then will head to Gardiner, MT for Yellowstone hike trip 8/16-21. Is anyone else doing that? We may rent a car to drive between locations or...suggestions?

Leslie Nixon Oct 16, 2014 at 01:14 PM

There is no time after daily activities for a trail ride. Not sure where the stables are located but you would most likely need a car. I don't think there is a rental company any closer than Bozeman. You will have to do more research on that. There is a limo service from the airport. It isn't cheap and the car we were taken in was not in the very best of shape but that is Montana style.

I noticed trail riding on the list of free time activities...Is there enough time after the daily hikes to go on a trail ride or would this be something to do if I added an extra day to my stay? Also, would I need to rent a car to get to the stables from the park?

the days seemed very full . It would be less expensive to rent a car from airport and share with some others. then you would have car to do what you want.

I'm attending the 8/24-29 trip and will be renting a car in Bozeman. If any attendees would like to share the ride, let me know. Norm

I am signed up for the Yellowstone hiking trip Aug 17-22. I live in Phila. Unfortunately, the shuttle will not get me to the airport in time for either plane to Phila, and Road Scholar is not willing to re-schedule or add another. That means I or whoever else needs to leave early must pay our own taxi. Is anyone else in need of leaving earlier who might want to share a taxi? (For a 1:30 flight, we'd need to leave about 9:30 AM).
Vicky Koch Jun 06, 2014 at 02:48 PM

My fliight leaves at 2:00 and I'd be willing to share the cost of a taxi.
Fran Gilmore Jun 06, 2014 at 05:19 PM

That's great. It's $81, so sharing will help--and be more fun!
Vicky Koch Jun 06, 2014 at 07:09 PM

Sounds good. We'll connect on the trip. So excited and looking forward to it!

HI I'm going August 17 thru 22 - has any one else signed up for this trip? Also looking for feedback from people who have taken the trip Nancy C

It was wonderful. If you are lucky enough to have the same guides it will be unforgettable. I did the "long" hikes and we covered some ground. Very nice to get further into the park than the "surface" tourists do. I also did the August trip. The earlier wildflower one would have been neat but I wanted the option of the longer vs the shorter hikes which the earlier trip did not offer.
nancy c Jan 26, 2014 at 03:35 PM

Thanks very much Candice - do you do any special training for the trip?
Candice Donahue Jan 26, 2014 at 03:40 PM

No I don't but I'm very active. I ride 80-100 miles a week so my legs are strong and I'm used to intense aerobic workouts. Gene set a fast pace but stopped a lot to discuss what we were seeing, and you're carrying a daypack instead of a backpack, so it's not too strenuous.
nancy c Feb 03, 2014 at 09:09 PM

Thanks Candice I appreciate the insight and help. I am so excited about the trip.

I'm going August 17-22. This is my first RS trip.
