Road Scholar
Program #20422RJ
10 Days | 9 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Sorry to write too often--just heard from the Yorktown personnel there are hair dryers on the ship--got same info about WIFI--I must sound overly concerned about it, but I'm not--was just trying to decide whether to bring my Kindle or real books--looks like real books. See you all soon.

Here is the information I received regarding using any type of electronic equipment of our own on the ship (i.e. laptops, kindles, cell phones, etc.) “A limited number of internet-ready laptop computers will be available on board for rental at a cost of $20 for each 30 minutes, including internet access. Alternatively, internet access is available at a cost of $25 for each 60 minutes, using your own mobile device.”
You should be able to get a good idea of the temperatures to expect in the What to Know Before you Go Booklet. I unfortunately cannot attach that document, as Road Scholar sends their own version, which we do not have. If you cannot find same, please contact them,

That price is over the top.

There are additional pictures of the Yorktown & more details at http://www.greatlakescruising.com/yorktown/ I also wrote them & asked if there are hair dryers on board & what the weather is like on deck as far as bringing sweaters and/or jackets & asked if we could use our kindles and/or cell phones & what the charge is for WIFI on the ship. I'll post their answers when I receive them. We are so looking forward to this trip.

Would a Kindle work on the ship or a cell phone or would you need to buy the 30 minutes of time as indicated in the information we were sent that pertained to email?

Vera Fergenbaum Sep 16, 2012 at 09:16 AM

what are the public areas? is there a deck?

Vera Fergenbaum Sep 16, 2012 at 09:15 AM

are there lot of stairs? is there more than one seating for dinner?

Roland Littlewood Jul 04, 2012 at 08:50 PM

I must have done something wrong the first time I tried to post this question. Is there WiFi available on the ship? If yes, how expensive is it?
