Road Scholar
Program #20953RJ
10 Days | 9 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
If you’re looking for a more flexible schedule with ample independent time and several meals on your own, then our FLEX learning adventures are made for you.

Leaving from phila. Anyone else ?
James Moore Sep 15, 2014 at 10:39 AM

We're leaving from Boston, so will meet you in London.

James Moore Sep 12, 2014 at 06:48 PM

We are scheduled for the October 17th program, and wondered whether anyone else scheduled for that trip was using this social network.
Joanne Bishop Sep 15, 2014 at 01:49 PM

Yes, I,too am leaving from Boston. I am wondering if anyone is interested in departing a bit from our schedule and visiting Versailles on Fat Bike Tour?
Jane Green Sep 16, 2014 at 09:04 AM

Sounds interesting

Leaving Friday from phila

Caroline Taverna Jul 22, 2014 at 06:26 AM

I depart later today for a couple days of touring English manor homes. Will meet up with Road Scholar group on Friday at the hotel.
Frances Schoenfeld Jul 22, 2014 at 07:47 AM

We're looking forward to meeting you, Caroline. Enjoy the beautifully green countryside!

Frances Schoenfeld Jul 21, 2014 at 11:13 PM

Is anybody going on the July 25th thru Aug 3rd tour of this program?

Frances Schoenfeld Jul 19, 2014 at 12:34 AM

This program includes a stay at the Villa Beaumachais in Paris. My wife is wondering if they have hair dryers in their rooms because they don't mention them on their website. Perhaps someone who has stayed there can tell us.
Shirley Nelsen Jul 19, 2014 at 12:53 AM

google that hotel, call them-in the daytime, the desk person is more likely to speak English. OR email them with that question. We did not stay at this hotel. or ask the facilitator to contact the French guide in Paris.
Shirley Nelsen Jul 19, 2014 at 12:54 AM

It is not very expensive to call, but you can probably find out by calling road scholar as I suggested abobe

Bob Schoenfeld Jul 14, 2014 at 10:05 AM

I'm interested in finding others who will be on the July 25th program.

Bob Schoenfeld Jul 12, 2014 at 12:26 PM

Can someone who is on this program respond to the following questions?
1. Where is the best place to get some local currency?
2. Is it possible for people on this program to have the capability to make and receive calls on their cell phones?
3. Where do we get Travel Cards in London?
Shirley Nelsen Jul 14, 2014 at 11:01 AM

I got my currency for London and Paris at my local bank. Did not all I got. I think I got about $250 for each place.
Shirley Nelsen Jul 14, 2014 at 11:05 AM

I clicked enter, and that posted my message. Sorry. Did not spend all of it. I have an iPhone with Verizon carrier. They do not support Europe. So I arranged to get a phone for one month through Verizon. Never used it. I think people with iPhones with ATT could use them. Super expensive. I used my iPad and computer and Skype instead. All hotels had internet. Not sure what you mean by travel cards, but if you mean the Underground, your guide will show you, and you get them at the train (underground) station. Easy

Shirley Nelsen Apr 03, 2014 at 12:24 PM

Yes, Esther is correct. I used the wrong terminology re the adaptors and converter. Any travel store, or a university book store, had a good selection. Yes, I did use my iPhone for the same things.
