This Rockhounder's Dream program will be our first Road Scholar trip; any thoughts or suggestions will be most welcome! Anyone else on this discussion board attending the May 9 program?

I am attending the May 3-9 program. It will be my first Road Scholar trip also. I am arriving one day early to see a bit of SLC.

This was a great tour. If you can drive I would recomend that you do. I had to ship three flat rate boxes. My suitcase and rolling back pack weighed a ton. Bring lotion with you my skin really dried out even though I had lotion.

My daughter flew from RI to Denvertoday. Flights got diverted and trip took all day, but she did finally get to Denver.

Any one know if we'll be able to purchase a rock hammer locally? I'm not checking a bag on my way to Salt Lake and you can't take any tools over 6" in your carryon bag.
Hilde MacAlpine Sep 18, 2014 at 11:05 PM

I hope some tools will be provided???

they said that tools would be provided but recommended bringing your own. We might need share?

It looks like we go to a rock shop after dinner on Monday night, so hopefully we can purchase items.

I went to dig for Petrified wood in Sweethome, Oregon but missed connections and ended up visiting a Rock museum in Brownsville and another shop in Corvallis. I'm going to Madras to dig for Oregon Thunder eggs. My sister wants 30 for her second grade class. I'll be bringing small Oregon Sunstones the gemstone of Oregon to Delta Utah. Less than a month away now. Can't wait. Barb

I will be on the Sept. 29 program and live in Coeur d Alene, Id. and have decided to drive rather then fly. If anyone lives between Spokane,Wa. and Butte,Mt. and wants to share expenses and help drive, pleae respond.

Thanks, Mike
