While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I also appreciate the wisdom of offering single supplement just for the land portion of trip. I am looking forward to the Feb 10, 2013 trip and hope to hear from others planning to attend.

Isobel--
I agree entirely with your suggestion about the Finis Terrae "roommate" approach. I, too, am used to the single life and while I certainly don't mind sharing accommodations for a few days...I would prefer to be on my own for the majority of the trip. A reduction of about $1,000 in the single supplement would make a great deal of difference in my thinking about this trip (for which I hope to register).
I would be pleased to hear from anybody and everybody who participated in the Finis Terrae trip which departed on February 28th. How was it? Give details!

I sent this message to Road Scholar in December 2012. They replied that the idea would be considered. Perhaps if people supported this idea, it would increase the chances that it could be implemented. Thanks
--------------------
I am very interested in your Program # 20614RJ - Finis Terrae to Chile and Argentina. It is a 14-night
tour which includes a 4-night cruise. The single supplement for this trip is $1975 - no doubt because of the high supplements charged by ships.
In contrast, the single supplement for Program #12827RJ - Discovering Wines and Traditions of Argentina and Chile - an 18-night tour - is only $915!
Road Scholar's tours (except for those involving travel by ship) are usually quite reasonable. It would be a great boon to those of us who are single, and are used to living alone, if we could share a cabin for the ship portion of the tour and have single accommodation for the land portion of the tour.
Please pass on this request to the appropriate person at Road Scholar. I would greatly appreciate this being studied and considered. There doesn't seem to be a reason why this couldn't be done. It's merely a matter of booking x hotel rooms for the land portion and y cabins on the ship.
Those who have already purchased program #20614RJ could be offered this option. It is one thing to take a chance and share a cabin for 4 nights with a stranger but much harder to do so for 14 nights.
I'm sure there are cases where great friendships have been forged; however, it can also be an experience which puts a damper on the entire trip (if there are huge differences in habits, snoring,
talkativeness, etc.).
Thank you for considering this possibility.

Is anyone else going to Patagonia on Feb. 28? My husband, John, and I are looking forward to this trip.
