Hi we are from California! It will take us so long to get there we have to get there a day early and stay an extra day. Any suggestions for what to do in Portland during our first day so we do not duplicate what the road scholar trip will do on its first day?

Visit the Nathaniel Hawthorne house, or the art gallery, take the mail boat around Casco Bay, go shopping at LLBean

I'll be arriving from Oregon and spending a couple days in Boston, then also taking the train to Portland.

I am beginning this trip from my sister's house in Portland. Is anyone else a Portland resident?
