We are on Discovering Mahu Picchu and Galapagos #20974 Sept19. Anyone know if need voltage converter for 110V US? See LaPinta has 110-220V.

melinda kough Apr 26, 2015 at 10:49 PM

when and why was the ship changed from the national geographic endeavour to the la pinta?
Walt Barry Apr 27, 2015 at 08:20 AM

I've heard nothing specific but am guessing it had to do with cost and expense. The Linblad cruises appear to be at least a couple of thousand dollars
Walt Barry Apr 27, 2015 at 08:22 AM

...more than the comparable Road Scholar trip. We may have been on the last iteration of that combine between Road Scholar and Linblad and were very happy campers!

Robin Cantrell Apr 11, 2015 at 09:45 AM

On the La Pinta cruise is there snorkeling almost every day? Robin
Yvonne Sippel Apr 11, 2015 at 10:09 AM

The first two days are devoted to island visits. After that, water activities are offered almost everyday. Snorkeling equipment is issued (one time only) the first or second day.

We are going on the March 21-April4, 2015 tour; our vessel is La Pinta. Can anyone tell me if there is Wi-Fi aboard? Thanks.
Eswar Prasad Somayajula Dec 20, 2014 at 09:01 AM

The yatch lists fee based services. Satellite Internet connection (three stations) and wireless in designated areas: Bar Lounge, Natural Histoy Library and Solarium (at additional cost). Based on my experience on similar trips in the Arctic an d Antarctica, you will be able to send text based messages. It is also best to set up a separate accont to receive the mail on the yatch. It will be difficult to send pictures (plus high cost). Eswar.

Thank you!

We are part of the the November 2-16 program with the departure from Miami to Lima to Cusco. Is there an assembly time or place in Miami or will participants gather together in Lima? Looking forward to both Machu Picchu and the Galapagos. Walt and Pamela Barry
Marilyn Patterson Oct 31, 2014 at 10:35 PM

I can only assume that most of "us" that are leaving from Miami are on the 1 AM (really Nov. 3rd) flight using LAN. Let the adventure begin!!!!! Marilyn Patterson
Judith Rogers Nov 01, 2014 at 12:00 AM

Mary Stuewe and I will be at the airport for that flight. Looking forward to meeting everyone. We are excited, to say the least!

Rabel Burdge Sep 25, 2014 at 12:16 PM

Joyce and Rabel Burdge will be on the 30 October trip. We are not good swimmers! What can we do to enjoy the in the water portion of the Galapagos trip? What clothes should be included for both the mountain and the water portion? Does Tip Top lll have room for a small suitcase? What is the price of beer and wine on the boat? See our colleagues soon! Rabel and Joyce
Todd Betterton Nov 07, 2014 at 03:59 PM

You will need long pants and long sleeves for Peru...Probably a jacket or windbreaker also...Galapagos will be mostly shorts and short sleeves...my wife wore a light jacket or sweater at night...We had room for our roller bags and backpacks on Tiptop III...sodas were $3, beer/wine $5...cash only settled up at the end

Judith Rogers Sep 17, 2014 at 07:07 PM

If you are going on this trip and have not read Mark Adams's book, Turn Right at Machu Pichu: Rediscovering the Lost City One Step at a Time, you might want to access a copy. My friend Mary and I (Nov 3 trip) both thoroughly appreciated the information Mr. Adams relayed plus his delightful style of writing.

Enjoy...
