Virginia Braski, it appears we are roommates on the Sept 4 trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. I am flying out of San Fran, are you?

Rick Davis Aug 04, 2014 at 02:05 PM

My wife and I are on the Mekong Delta trip beginning September 19. We are leaving from Chicago. Just curious to know who else is on this particular trip?

Rick Davis Jul 30, 2014 at 08:46 AM

My wife and I are taking the Mekong Delta trip in September. You who have already taken this trip, do you advise we convert some American dollars to Dong before leaving the States? If so, how much do you suggest? Any advice you have regarding the Vietnamese currency is welcomed.
Louetta Schwab Jul 30, 2014 at 08:59 AM

No bother to convert here, we had no problems with US dollars.. This may have been our favorite trip so far....we've been on 9 RS trips and 3 with other companies. You will not be in Vietnam very long. Most is Cambodia. While in Saigon, you really should visit the french ice cream parlor. Your guide can help you with directions, we walked. They serve art!!! Enjoy your trip!
Judith Hrycak Jul 30, 2014 at 10:14 AM

I agree with Louetta. Had no problem with US dollar, and also was our best trip yet! we thought we may even want to go again in a few years. So much to see and enjoyed the people in Cambodia, They are so very nice.

I'm going on the Aug. 27, 2014 trip - anyone out there going to be on same trip?
Sue Stinson Jul 27, 2014 at 04:10 PM

We are: Sue and Jim from Greensboro, North Carolina. eare newly retired (a year ago) and this is our first RS trip.
Ellin Ifft Jul 28, 2014 at 12:24 PM

Great - I've taken several RS trips and been very happy with them. RS suggests we put the red RS luggage tag on our carry-ons so we can identify each other which I've found very helpful on these long trips. We can introduce ourselves in San Francisco while waiting to board by looking for other red tags.

We would be interested in finding out who else is going on the July trip on the Mekong Delta trip. There are three of us together, two former peace Corps Volunteers(Nigeria) and one who traveled extensively working with relief and aid projects throughout other areas of Asia. We all live in Pasadena, California.
Allan Wicker Jul 01, 2014 at 01:53 PM

Hi Susan,
Allan Wicker Jul 01, 2014 at 01:55 PM

My wife, Ding, and I are on the July trip. We're almost neighbors, since we live in Claremont, CA.
Allan Wicker Jul 01, 2014 at 01:56 PM

(I see that hitting return results in a new post). Ding is ka
Allan Wicker Jul 01, 2014 at 02:00 PM

I'm having difficulty with this, so I'll try to send you an e-mail via the RS link.
Deborah Donovan Jul 11, 2014 at 08:49 PM

My husband, Howard Weisman- he did not change his name when we were married- live in Pleasant Hill,Ca and we are leaving tomorrow for this program. I am retired attorney and solar business owner and Howard is a psychiatrist- still practicing. We love adventure and am looking forward to meeting new friends.
Susan Nix Jul 12, 2014 at 02:13 AM

Hi Deborah,
Susan Nix Jul 12, 2014 at 02:22 AM

We look forward to meeting you both! This is going to be a fascinating trip with, it sounds like, a group of energetic travelers. See you in Siem Reap.

Rick Davis Jun 19, 2014 at 01:52 PM

This question is addressed to anyone who has already taken the Mekong Delta trip ... My wife and I are planning to take along our Nook E-books on our trip. Did you use converters to recharge your elecrtonics? If so, did use the same converters in Vietnam (including on the boat) and in Cambodia?
Louetta Schwab Jul 30, 2014 at 09:01 AM

Yes, you will need a converter. Worked every place we used it.

I'm traveling solo on the September 19 program. At the end, I'm considering flying to Luang Prabang and then on to Chiangmai to board a southbound train. Fly back to the states from Kuala Lampur or Singapore. Looking for the security of fellow travelers. Anyone interested?
