My mother, Jane Norris, and I are flying nonstop on Air India from Chicago to Delhi and hopefully arriving shortly after the group flight from JFK. So excited about this trip! Did RS send out a list of partcipants? I did not see one.
Catherine Cook Feb 26, 2014 at 03:31 PM

RS does not provide that - ever. it's all very hush hush. I went on this trip last Sept. and loved it. You will have a wonderful time.
James Huen Feb 26, 2014 at 03:37 PM

Hi Helen - RS informed me you posted and your are the only one to respond and will be on same 3/19 trip And you have visited India before. RS does not give out number of people signed up; I like a large group. My wife and I are retired and seniors. We arrive 3 days early in Delhi. and then staying 2 days later in Cochin, flying directly from San Francisco. We stay in Connaught Hotel, then taxi to Suryaa Hotel See you on 3/ 20!! Regarding not seeing tigers, we went on 2 weeks African safari last year in Kenya & Tanzania, that is enough wild animals to last several lifetimes!!
Helen Baker Feb 26, 2014 at 04:09 PM

I had not recalled that about RS--I guess it was through other tour companies that I had received lists of participants. James, looking forward to meeting you and your wife in Delhi!

James Huen Feb 19, 2014 at 06:29 PM

My wife and I are going on the 3/19 trip. We are from San Francisco area, flying on Emirates to Dubai. then Delhi. We are going 3 days early and staying 2 days later in Cochin. I'm just very curious why other travelers are not posting to get to know fellow travelers before trip. Just a thought. See my earlier post of 1/22/14 below.
Arnold Gass Mar 01, 2014 at 08:50 PM

I just returned from the 2/5 trip, James. You are wise to arrive early--as I did-- and stay late. If you enjoy shopping, you will be pleased to spend extra time in the shops at Jew Market in Kochi. Happy travels!

Arnold - thanks for the reply and happy to hear from one who just returned. I love to hear about your experiences, pros and cons. Please call my cell to discuss: 510-363-0183 or e-mail We are not big shoppers, just little souvenirs. Hope you reply back, call me anytime, retired in San Francisco East Bay. Thanks!!

when deciding the date for my trip, I asked my Indian doctor what the best date would be. Without hesitation she said, "November." The weather was nice, not too hot, it rained only once (on the houseboat segment in the evening).
Enjoy your trip and enjoy the food!

Janet MacDonald Feb 15, 2014 at 08:54 AM

We're considering this trip. Any comments out there about best weather month(s)?
Nancy D Feb 15, 2014 at 10:32 AM

We were also wondering about the best weather months so we asked Road Scholar and we got a good response. 'For the weather in India, according to World Weather information for Jaipur, for instance, average precipitation in October is 23.3 mm (or 0.92 in.) compared to 7.5 mm (or 0.30 in.) in January. Compared to the rainiest month in Jaipur, July, which gets 214 mm (or 8.4 in), the difference in precipitation between October and January isn’t terribly significant. These statistics are for Jaipur, but World Weather has many other cities if you’d like to research Indian weather more.'
Janet MacDonald Feb 15, 2014 at 03:59 PM

Thanks Nancy!

Frances Wolff Feb 11, 2014 at 11:57 AM

This is probably way too early to post for this trip . . . I have signed up for Jan. 9-29 2015 and am interested in seeing what others are saying about their trip.
Gayle Ashton Feb 11, 2014 at 12:15 PM

I liked it so much I would take it again.

Isabelle Buonocore Jan 30, 2014 at 08:32 PM

My husband Mark and I are going on the Feb 5-25 trip, leaving from JFK airport. We're staying at the Garden Inn & Suites on Baisley Blvd, Jamaica NY, the night before; anyone staying there? Mark and I are from Philadelphia.

Patricia Lutrin Jan 30, 2014 at 07:00 PM

I'm going on the India Feb 5 - 25 trip, and looking for an exercise buddy to help keep me motivated. Anyone interested?
Arnold Gass Jan 30, 2014 at 07:09 PM

My husband and I will be on the trip. He is a moderate level exerciser and would be happy to exercise with you if that's your level.
Patricia Lutrin Jan 30, 2014 at 07:16 PM

Thanks so much for speedy reply. I was hoping for another woman so I wouldn't be so shy.
Arnold Gass Jan 30, 2014 at 07:52 PM

Sorry I can't accommodate you, then. We'll get along in other ways. Arnie Gass
