If you are talking about The Best of Mount Rushmore Program, you do have to get yourself to and from the hotel. There is a shuttle from Rapid City Airport to Keystone, SD, where you will be staying. There are also taxis available, but the best bet seems to be the shuttle. If you have more than one person, the price goes down. There are rental cars available from the airport, but you really don't need, nor have time for, a car during the program. I just completed this Program and it was quite an experience. I'd highly recommend it to anybody. You see and learn so much and the landscapes are spectacular.

Hi! Am brand new here and want to go on the S. Dakota tour. Can anyone tell me where it stars and I assume we have to find our own transportation to get there and back?

Cathie Skinner Aug 27, 2015 at 11:21 PM

Carol, My plans have changed big time. I was going to take the train to Williston, ND from Portland, OR, then rent a car and drive down to Rapid City. The train was cancelled because of the wild fires, so, I booked a flight to Denver and am renting a car there and keeping it for the week. So, I will be cancelling my Shuttle reservation, but, if there is no one else to share a ride with you, I will be happy to pick you up. And anyone else that needs a ride to the hotel And ,I can take you back to the airport on Saturday, and anyone else that needs a ride. Believe me, I didn't plan on this, but that's life sometimes. My vacation will start a little later.

Carol, I, too have just called and made my reservation and will go to their desk at the baggage claim and meet up there. See you soon.

Carol Davis Aug 21, 2015 at 02:00 PM

Cathie, I just called Airport Shuttle and made my reservation. I told them we were sharing the ride, and you would call to make a reservation, if you hadn't already done so.

Carol Davis Aug 20, 2015 at 01:11 PM

Cathie, I arrive in Rapid City on August 30 at 3:39 pm on United 4930 direct from Denver. I would be happy to share shuttle, if my arrival time works for you.
Cathie Skinner Aug 20, 2015 at 01:28 PM

I can work with that time and would be happy to share a shuttle ride with you. I don't exactly know how this works, but I imagine we both make reservations and give each other's names.

I'm enrolled in the August 30-September 5 Black Hills/Mt. Rushmore Program and am looking to share shuttle expenses with other participants. It is $50 per person, but if there are more people it goes down to $25.

HI Cathie. My wife and I are looking forward to our trip. We are planning on arriving early however, on the 28th. What are your arrival plans?
Cathie Skinner Aug 17, 2015 at 01:40 PM

Thanks for responding. I will not be arriving until the 30th. Hopefully, someone else will turn up that needs transportation to the hotel.

Geri Gottbrath July 29/15 I'm going on the Sept. 9-15 Mt. Rushmore, Badlands trip followed by the Hands-On Paleontology: Excavating & Preserving Mammoths trip, Sept. 20-26. Is anyone else doing both programs? Looking for a shared shuttle ride to Hot Springs?
