Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
Close [ x ]
Easy
For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I am thinking about booking the August 18-23th Trip. Travling from Illinois and wondering if there is another single female that would like to share a room. Non smoker please. Thanks

I have signed up for the New York 5 boroughs trip. I would be happy to share my hotel room.

I am booked for this tour. Yes, one can book the hotel directly for arrival a day or two early and/or departure from the hotel the day after the tour ends, (the rates are quite high - but probably average for the area). I did this by calling the New Yorker hotel, (as Road Scholar suggested). I've never been to New York and am really looking forward to the tour. My parents honeymooned there in 1932! I also am wondering how many will be on this tour.

My husband and I (Bill and Andi)are coming from CA for this trip. I wonder if anyone knows how many participants will be involved with this journey.I had always wanted to find a tour of the NYC boroughs, and everyone told meover the years that there was no such thing. I'm excited for this trip.

I'm planning a visit to the New York City Museum while we have some free time and would also like to see the Frick I have been missing for years and will likely spend a couple hours in the Met, which is always a winner. We should have lovely weather.

Going to do 5 boroughs 5 days in New York city as a single traveler. Anyone else already signed up. I got a great report on this program, but figure 5 days in New York City can never be bad. Just wondering if anyone is coming in early or staying another day. Is the hotel willing to let us stay over. I look forward to the trip and meeting new people.

Hi Kathy, I enjoyed this program 6½ years ago as a single traveler. Be prepared for a lot of walking and subway rides. During free time, I attended a Broadway show, which I booked in advance, during a free afternoon and then went by subway to see the WTC site. I also attended a concert at Carnegie hall during a free evening.

Hey thanks for the info. I love the city and could spend 2 full days at the Met all on my own.

My wife, Maxine, and I will be joining you for this trip. We are taking the train in from Syracuse and may come in on Saturday. We plan on getting a transit pass for $17 good for unlimited bus and subway travel for 7 days.
