I am Ronnie Davidson(female) from Princeton,NJ & am traveling with my grand daughter Em Rafter from Portola Valley,CA. Em is fourteen & I hope I don't have to tell my age. I have never ever slept in a sleeping bag, but am game for the adventure. Do bears, bugs, snakes, etc come into the tent?

I'm registered for this trip along with my two grandsons and would like to hear from others going with children: ages, where you're from, etc. I'm from New Braunfels, Texas, and my two grandsons are from Downingtown, PA.

Ann...we are the provider for this program located in Dillon, MT. This program has been very successful over the past several years. Grandparents and grandkids have a great time learning about and enjoying Yellowstone. The instructor brings the park alive if you and your granddaughter are interested in Yellowstone National Park. This is very active with hiking, rafting, horseback riding and a campout. If your granddaughter is 12-15 years old and you enjoy being very active this fits the bill. We also offer a program for just grandmothers and granddaughters here in Dillon,MT June 9-14. This is program #20798 called: Intergenerational:Pioneer Spirit in the Wild West for girls 9-12 years and their grandmothers. This program takes place in southwest Montana. a land that invokes the pioneer spirit by reminding us the West was developed, a brave few had to venture before us to tame these lands so rough and remote. You will ride horseback along historic trails and visit the Sacajawea Historic Area to learn about Lewis and Clark’s expedition. You will go fly casting and fishing with experts who help you to understand the ecology of southwest Montana streams and the native fish that fill them. You will also ncounter Gold Rush ghost towns, sit for a lesson in a pioneer-era one-room school house and take in a 19th-century melodrama performed in a historic opera house. Welcome to one of the several UM Western Road Scholar programs. Now in our 35th year, UM Western is proud to offer a wide variety of Road Scholar programs that inspire lifelong learning. This program along with several of our other programs will offer experiential learning and exploration of the magnificent Yellowstone ecosystem. You and your grandchild will have an active week hiking, horseback riding, floating the river, camping out and encountering the largest nearly intact, temperate ecosystem on earth. An experienced naturalist will guide you on an unforgettable journey as you better understand the plants, animal, bugs, fish, water, geology, habitat and weather patterns working together that make the whole on this large ecosystem.
